General parameters in the Media tool

Name

Create a name for each media size. A typical media size name may include:

  • The name of the manufacturer and the dimensions of the media (for example,Thermal Gold 15x20)

  • The name of the press on which that media will be used

You cannot continue with other configurations until you create a name.

Media name

From the list of options, select the name of a media.

If a media name is removed from a device,  Media name is set to blank and any cassettes that use this media size are set offline. If this occurs, a recovery message appears in the Messages tab at startup or during a reset or reinitialize operation.

Around drum length

Specify the dimensions of the media. Print Console will validate the dimensions based on the limits of your device. You can review these dimensions in Media Limits in the Device Configuration tool.

The Around drum length and Along drum length dimensions determine how the media is loaded onto the output device. If the media will be loaded differently on the output device drum than the press cylinder, check with your service representative to make sure that your configurations will produce the result you want.

Along drum length

Thickness

Specify the thickness of the media. Print Console will validate the dimensions based on the limits configured for your device. You can review these dimensions in Media Limits in the Device Configuration tool.

Important: If plate thickness is entered incorrectly, the image will be scaled incorrectly.
