Use the Media Tool to specify the parameters of the media that will be used in this output device. After you create a media, the output device can image jobs that specify that media.
The media size will be displayed in the Queue tab when the device is imaging a job with that media. If you have an autoloading device, the media size will also appear in the Cassettes tab, showing which media is loaded in each cassette.
Use the buttons at the bottom of the tool to:
|
|
Create a new media |
|
|
Create a new media by copying the selected media size and then revising its parameters |
|
|
Delete the selected media size |
For each media that you create, you must define parameters. You can later edit those parameters.
General parameters in the Media tool
Options parameters in the Media tool
Registration parameters in the Media tool
Virtual Punch Location parameters in the Media tool
Click one of the parameters to display a list
of options.
When you select one of the parameters, its description appears in the
information window at the bottom of the tool. You can resize
the information window to read the entire description.
Select one of the options.
Take one of the following actions:
Click Apply to put your changes into effect.
Click Revert to discard all changes since your last Apply operation.
If you want to automatically create a PPD file when you create or edit a media, configure PPD file path in Tools > Preferences > General.
When the status indicator displays Working (which means that there are plates in one or more of the media-handling stages), the Media Tool will be read-only. You will not be able to create, edit, or apply settings until the status indicator displays Ready.
If you are editing when a plate is picked, the Apply button will be disabled. If you press Revert, the tool will go back to its original settings and the Revert button will become unavailable.
The information in the Media Tool is read-only while you are entering data in other areas of the user interface (for example, the Cassettes tab or the Cassette Tool). Likewise, information in the other data-entry areas is read-only while you are editing in the Media Tool. You must press Apply or Revert in a tool or Apply in the Cassettes tab to complete your edits before you can start data entry elsewhere. The Status bar will tell you if you have unfinished edits that are preventing you from starting new edits.
