Virtual Punch Location parameters in the Media tool

If you use Preps software, you can use a virtual punch coordinate to correctly position the press sheet on the media. The virtual punch coordinate automatically locks the center of the press sheet edge to the defined location of the virtual punch.

The parameters that describe where to locate the virtual punch location are included in a PostScript® Printer eXtension (PPX) file. A PPX file is a supplement to a PPD file and is created automatically when you create a PPD file. See PPD preferences.

Virtual punch location

Select a virtual punch location:

  • Middle of leading edge (the default for plates)

  • Middle of trailing edge

  • Middle of home edge

  • Middle of away edge

  • Custom

If you select one of the first four options, Print Console uses the Around drum length and Along drum length parameters in the Media Tool to calculate this position relative to the media's leading and home edges. The results appear as read-only values in Relative to leading edge and Relative to home edge (see below).

If you select Custom, enter the coordinates you want for punch location in Relative to leading edge and Relative to home edge.

Relative to leading edge

If you selected Middle of leading edge, Middle of trailing edge, Middle of home edge, or Middle of away edge as the virtual punch location, Print Console calculates this value automatically and this parameter will be read-only.

If you selected Custom as the virtual punch location, this parameter is available for editing. Type the distance from the leading edge to the punch location.

Relative to home edge

If you selected Middle of leading edge, Middle of trailing edge, Middle of home edge, or Middle of away edge as the virtual punch location, Print Console calculates this value automatically and this parameter will be read-only.

If you selected Custom as the virtual punch location, this parameter is available for editing. Type the distance from the home edge to the punch location.
