Print Console 4 has rescheduling capability. The rescheduling features are part of Print Console's normal operation—you do not need to do anything to make rescheduling happen.
Plate rescheduling—If you cancel
a job after a plate has already been loaded, Print Console uses that plate
for the next job (if the next job uses the same media size).
This feature saves plates and processor chemicals when you need to
cancel a job. If the next job can use the same plate, it also saves time.
If a plate (or plates) is on the drum without an image assigned to
it, an information message appears informing you that the device is waiting
for an image to be queued. The Unload
button allows you to eject the media if you want. If two plates are on
the drum without assigned images, the prompt disappears when the first
plate is assigned an image.
Image rescheduling—When a picking
or loading error occurs and the plate assigned to an image must be discarded,
Print Console reassigns the image to the next plate rather than cancel
the job.
This feature saves you the effort of having to resubmit the job from
the workflow software.
When rescheduling an image requires a two-plate job to be launched,
a prompt informs you that the device is going to try the media handling
sequence again. You can click Retry
to approve or click Offline to
take the queue offline, but not cancel the images. If you think that a
mechanical defect has caused the picking or loading error, going offline
until the defect is repaired prevents the waste of plates. When the error
is resolved, the queue can be brought back online and Print Console will
continue to assign the images to plates.
Rescheduling has a few limitations:
Rescheduling works only when media sizes match.
Due to limitations in some workflow software, Print Console cannot search the queue for the next job that uses the media size that is already loaded—all jobs are imaged in the exact order in which they are queued to Print Console.
For jobs that use two plates on the drum, if there is a problem with one image, both images will automatically fail.
