Avoiding problems

Some of the most common problems (and the downtime associated with them) can be prevented by watching for and avoiding the following:

A door or panel that is open or unlocked

If you need to unlock a door or panel, wait until all current plates are imaged and ejected from the device.

The output device has an interlock system that protects you against injury from laser radiation and moving mechanical parts. If you open a door or panel while the output device is operating, the interlock system halts all mechanical activity and removes power from the laser.

The device will not resume operation until you close and lock all doors and panels and click Resume in the recovery message.

Media that is loaded incorrectly

The output device cannot detect plates that are in the wrong orientation or wrong position.

When you are manually loading plates, use the media alignment labels to precisely position the media.

When you are loading plates into a multi-cassette unit (MCU), ensure that:

For more information, see the loading procedures in the operator guide for your device.

Media that is the wrong size

When Print Console sends a job to the output device, it specifies the media size that the device must use for the job. A prompt appears in Print Console, letting you know which plate to load. If you load a plate that is the wrong size or wrong orientation for the job (either on the load ramp or in an MCU cassette), you must eject the plate and load the device with a plate that matches the media size specified in Print Console.

Incorrect media dimensions in the Media tool

A full slip sheet bin on devices that remove slip sheets

When the slip sheet bin is full, it begins to obstruct the operation of the device. The device will suspend operation and Print Console will display a recovery message instructing you to empty the slip sheet bin.
