Command: laser test

Description:

Runs write laser self-test.

Used to verify that the laser servo is functioning correctly, and pinpoint any trouble spots.

The laser test compares the current values with the previous values, if the previous values are non-zero. If the current and previous values exhibit sharp differences, then an error is generated. This allows us to evaluate laser performance over time, and determine if laser performance has changed significantly.

Previously, several servo_stat parameters had non-zero default values. If the previous laser test results were set to the non-zero default values, you can expect errors to occur during the laser test, as the current and "previous" values will most likely differ significantly. You may need to run the test several times to clear all the errors, or set all of the "previous" servo_stat values to zero.

Applies To:

  • Thermal

Syntax:

laser test

Notes:

Laser test has been implemented in thermal head firmware version 1.56 and above.
