Command: mask

Description:

The MPE maintains a set of status flags derived from various hardware fault detects. These flags indicate such things as proper installation of cables and functioning power supplies.

Displays a list of all the status flags. The ! character beside a status flag indicates that there is a problem with the corresponding component (e.g. missing cable). The * character beside a status flag indicates that the flag has been masked. Note that hyphenated acronyms generally refer to cable detects (e.g. HA-BP).

If one of these components suffers a detectable fault, the corresponding status flag will cause the system to report an error.

If multiple related faults exist, internal diagnostics will determine which is the true cause and report only that error.

The mask command provides the facilities for determining the state of these flags and for disabling or masking a flag.

If a status flag is masked, a problem with the corresponding component will not be detected directly. This can be used to stifle error messages in an incomplete system.
