<Command>
<Name>scan bits</Name>
<Description>
<DescriptionText><text>
This command displays all I/O bits 'known' by the I/O scanner subsystem. A
list is generated of all bits by 'standard firmware name' together with their
current status, the I/O group of which they are a member and a 32-bit mask
indicating the position of the bit within the group.

<DescriptionText><text>
The first status character field contains one of the following:
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><UnnumberedList>
<ListItem><Text>
"~" = The I/O bit is displayed inverted from its actual hardware state
</Text></ListItem>
<ListItem><Text>
" " = (space) The I/O bit is displayed as its actual hardware state
</Text></ListItem>
<ListItem><Text>
"*" = The I/O group containing this bit is not currently scanned
</Text></ListItem>
</UnnumberedList></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
The second status character field contains one of the following:
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><UnnumberedList>
<ListItem><Text>
"1" = The I/O bit is in the TRUE logic state
</Text></ListItem>
<ListItem><Text>
"0" = The I/O bit is in the FALSE logic state
</Text></ListItem>
<ListItem><Text>
"*" = The I/O group containing this bit is not currently scanned
</Text></ListItem>
</UnnumberedList></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
The third status character field contains one of the following:
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><UnnumberedList>
<ListItem><Text>
"x" = Bypass status is set for this bit
</Text></ListItem>
<ListItem><Text>
" " = (space) Bypass status is NOT set for this bit
</Text></ListItem>
<ListItem><Text>
"*" = The I/O group containing this bit is not currently scanned
</Text></ListItem>
</UnnumberedList></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><text>
The fourth status character field contains one of the following:
</text></DescriptionText>
<DescriptionText><UnnumberedList>
<ListItem><Text>
"b" = Bypass status may be set for this I/O bit
</Text></ListItem>
<ListItem><Text>
" " = (space) Bypass status may NOT be set for this I/O bit
</Text></ListItem>
<ListItem><Text>
"*" = The I/O group containing this bit is not currently scanned

<Notes>
<DescriptionText><text>
The I/O scanner always displays input and output bits with 'positive' logic
states when the associated hardware is implemented with 'negative' logic. For
example, if the active state of a bit indicating the drum roller is down is read
from hardware as a "0" the I/O scanner inverts the reported state for this bit.
If the hardware output bit that drives a solenoid is "0" in its active state
the I/O scanner will display this bit as "1" when its active. To help avoid
confusion when troubleshooting electrical hardware the first status field
character will indicate bits that are inverted with a "~".
