Introduction

Computer-imaged plates, better known as digital-imaged plates, are the latest development in imaging technology for computer-to-plate (CTP) workflow.

Top-of-the-line platesetters, including the Lotem 800 as an innovator, now use THERMAL ENERGY to image plates. This has introduced a new level of accuracy and quality in the market.

Special thermal-sensitive plates have been and still are being developed to fit these platesetters.

On the following pages, you will find a brief history of the science and technology of plates – from the earliest conventional plates to the first development of CTP plates to the thermal plates of today.
