Sharp Dots

Thermal plates can hardly be under- or overexposed. The IR dye sensitivity can only be on or off. Dots are created only at those spots where the laser has reached a temperature that the plate is sensitive to. Prior to that, the plate is not imaged at all. As a result the dots produced are sharp; there is no fogginess or blurring. In this sense these plates can be considered to be ‘digitally imaged’.
