| The monitor command reset disables interrupts and hangs the firmware. As a result, the watchdog circuit will eventually force a hardware reset. Note that the hardware reset re-loads code from flash memory.

| The monitor command reset soft disables interrupts and executes the reset vector. As a result, the firmware re-initializes from the same point as a hardware reset. A connected host may detect the re-initialization and force a hardware reset. Note that the software reset does not re-load code from flash memory. However, a connected host will detect the break condition generated as part of initialization and force a hardware reset. The hardware reset re-loads code from flash memory.
