The Auto-focus system attempts to generate a lens position profile in order to minimize the focus error over the imaging area. If a profile cannot be found which reduces the focus error below the maximum threshold within the time allotted this error is produced.

Verify the image and media size parameters are set correctly or check the loading of the media for flatness.
|
- The image size and/or the media parmeters are incorrect, causing the focus to attempt to focus off the media.
- The media has been loaded incorrectly, leaving bumps too large for Auto-focus to correct.
