Tfx Errorcode
[03518] Failure configuring the focus driver

Service Information Failure configuring the focus driver.

Due to limitations of the Thermal 1.0 / 1.7x interface, the number of error codes that can be returned to the host are limited. Enabling the error translation level for the system subsystem will display a more specific error.

One common cause of this error is short image length, when using TFX FW V1.14 or higher. Images must be long enough to collect 35 focus samples per revolution. For a 432 mm drum diameter, at a drum speed of 320 rpm, each plot must be 5” or longer, and at a drum speed of 440 rpm, each plot must be 6.5” or longer. You can find more details in section 8 of the V1.14 release notes.

Note that the parameters that are being configured include the following:
  • The media thickness ( from the system parameter )
  • The surface reflectivity ( from the system parameter )
  • The receiver gain ( from an NVS parameter )
  • The surface depth ( from the system parameter )
  • The focus mode ( from an NVS parameter )
  • The drum speed ( from the system parameter )
  • The drum diameter ( from the system parameter )
  • The swaths to learn ( from the system parameter )
  • The total swaths ( from the system parameter )
  • The swaths to hold ( from the system parameter )
  • The image DPI ( from the system parameter )
  • The SCLK's per revolution ( from the system parameter )
  • The SCLK's per image ( from the system parameter )
  • The LEC shadow ( from the system parameter )
  • The TEC shadow ( from the system parameter )
  • The focus laser mode ( from an NVS parameter )
  • The bidirectional flag ( from the system parameter )
  • The gapless flag ( from various system parameters )
  • The seam offset ( from the system parameter )
  • The seam width ( from the system parameter )
  • The carriage speed ( from the system parameter )

Operator Action Call service.

Causes
  • A combination of system parameters and / or NVS parameters is invalid.
  • The stroke clock from the host cannot be detected by the focus driver.
  • A hardware problem is causing an initialization failure.
  • A safety fault is preventing the focus laser from turning on.
  • Firmware error that will occur during firmware development and testing.
