Tfx Parameter
med <media index> sensitivity

Variables media index Selects the media index from 0 to 15.

Description The sensitivity defined by the copy of the media parameters where the copy is selected by the media index. Theoretically the sensitivity should be constant for each media, but experience has indicated that the sensitivity is head-dependent. The NVS parameter med <media index> sensitivity defines the constant for the media and the NVS parameter med <media index> sensitivityadjust defines a head-dependent adjustment percentage.

The TFX head does not access this parameter, although the host may. However, this parameter is stored in the head because it is head-dependent, as mentioned above.

The NVS parameter med <media index> laserpower is the most common parameter used to define the laser power. The sensitivity is only used to set the laser power on TH2 heads when med <media index> laserpower is 0, and when the head is operating in AP0. Typically, heads with firmware V1.01h or older, or heads operating on DOP or MPE platforms, operate with AP0. The advantage to using sensitivity over laserpower, is that sensitivity is independent of resolution, stroke width, and drum speed.

When the laser power is defined by the sensitivity, the target power is calculated using sensitivity, stroke width, resolution, and drum speed.
