readplotdata.spt

When to use this script | Instructions

readplotdata.spt is used to to either extract and display head realtime head log data or read and display previously extracted head logs data. If extracting data from the head, then it is assumed that the head PLOT logs have already been aquired and the data is sitting in the head memory. This script is used only for data from a plot log. The script is an interactive one, where you can plot graphs again and again until you are done. This script is supplied by the Thermal II group.

When to use this script

Whenever you want to extract and display head log data from a plot, covering the whole plot and nothing outside of the plot. Note that is sometimes preferred to use the mode of log aquisition that also samples the non-image area so that lead in and trail out effects can also be monitored.

Instructions

After a plot with the head in "LOG MODE PLOT" (see LogSetup.spt), run the script and interact with the dialog boxes.

Note: this script does not manage redirection properly. The head must already be in redirect mode.

Data and graphs

Example Graphs and a dialog box. Just a plot on a machine in Israel.

In the first graph you can see the first swath has the focus beam partially off plate. This is normal.

In the second graph, I have asked for only the first few swaths, in order to avoid clutter.

In this third graph, It does not look as if Focus is tracking as well as it should.

In this fourth graph, Focus seems to be tracking better.

The dialog box for the 4th graph above.
