Thermal3 Parameter
med <media index> laserpower

Variables media index Selects the media index from 0 to 63.

Description The laser power defined by the copy of the media parameters where the copy is selected by the media index. When the host turns on the write laser in preparation for a plot, the laser power is specified by this media parameter.

The exposure head will set a laser current and then use the beam-balance sensor to determine the laser power. The exposure head will execute control loops to maintain the laser power by adjusting the laser current.

The relationship between the laser power and the laser current will vary from exposure head to exposure head. Over time, increased laser current will be required to achieve the same laser power.

This media parameter is defined by the exposure head because the exposure ( determined by the combination of the laser power and the drum speed ) is head-dependent.

The NVS parameter med <media index> laserpower is the original method used to define the laser power. The NVS parameter med <media index> sensitivity and med <media index> sensitivityadjust is the preferred method used to define the laser power. The sensitivity is independent of the area of a swath and the drum speed.
