Symptoms

You already have Prinergy 3.x with Preps Integration and now require a Preps software update in advance of a corresponding Prinergy update.

Cause

If significant issues are identified in the Preps component of a Prinergy software release, a free Preps update is made available as soon as possible to resolve these problems. This type of Preps update is available independently until it is integrated into a later Prinergy software update.

Solution

If you are updating Preps without updating Prinergy at the same time, you must separately update Preps at each Prinergy Workshop client computer. Do not change anything for Preps at the Prinergy server.

Note: If you are updating Prinergy software, you do not need the following procedure, unless a more recent Preps update is already available and you do not want to wait for the next release of Prinergy. Prinergy updaters automatically install the Preps components for the workflow's Prinergy Workshop clients.

Before you start: We recommend that you update Preps independently of Prinergy only if you know that the newer Preps release fixes a substantial problem for your site. Before proceeding, please confirm with your Preps or Prinergy technical contact (see below) that updating Preps alone is recommended for your version of Prinergy.

To update Preps without updating Prinergy, follow these steps at each client computer:

1. Ensure that Preps is not running.
2. Download and decompress the update from the Preps Downloads page.
3. Double-click the updater and follow the instructions as they appear; however, do not accept the default location.

When prompted for the location, navigate to the Creo\AraxiPreps\ folder to install the Preps update into the same folder that contains the existing Preps software.
The update installer automatically creates a backup copy of the existing Preps software.

The updated Preps software is now accessible from within Prinergy Workshop.
