This update is invoked by clicking on the "Update Workshop" button in the Workshop login dialog. What This Update Fixes ---------------------- 1. Inline JPEG-compressed images now handled during refine Refiner Normalizer and Optimizer JTPs no longer fail to parse the PDF page content when they encounter inline JPEG-compressed images. 2. System Administrator backup configuration can now handle long server names When adding a server to the list of servers to backup, the system administrator would sometimes give an error indicating that the primary name for the server was not the correct primary. The error only occurred if the machine name of the primary was longer than 8 characters. This problem has been fixed. 3. Fixes for medium verify and medium copy. A number of fixes for the medium verify and medium copy feature have been included in this version of the archiver in preparation for beta testing of these features. 4. New Workshop system property to disable graphics hardware acceleration Opening multiple job managers within Workshop while running on Mac OS X version 10.2 can cause the Mac to freeze requiring a reboot. It appears to be caused by a bug in Apple's graphics hardware acceleration of Java. A new system property has been added to Workshop that can be used to disable graphics hardware acceleration. 5. Media manager now correctly handles changes to tape properties Previously, if the Media Manager was open and the properties of a tape you are viewing changes (for instance by deallocating the tape and reusing it), the Media Manager would not immediately refresh the changes. Then, if you submitted a medium logical copy for the tape, the old tape info would be passed to the archiver. This would not only cause the process to fail, but the process would not complete and hang the archiver. This problem has now been fixed. 6. Process Plan Groups are now displayed in logical order Previously, the process Process Plan Groups that are displayed when you want to initiate a process using the menu items (eg. Refine, Loose Page Output, etc) are not displayed in any logical order. This problem has now been fixed, and the process plan groups are displayed in alphabetical order. 7. "Submit as Multiple Print Jobs" process plan tick box access improved In previous versions of Prinergy 2.1, there seemed to be no combination of clicking/tabbing/typing that would cause the "submit as multiple print jobs" tick box to ungray for the Loose Proof. This problem has now been fixed. 8. Improved warnings when attempting to launch Acrobat on multiple files Previously, if multiple files were selected in Workshop, and you attempted to launch Acrobat by double clicking on one of the pages, multiple warning messages (one for each selected page) would appear. Now, only a single warning message is displayed. 9. Workshop no longer crashes when attempting to open a destroyed job When a job is destroyed in Workshop, it will still appear in the Job Finder until the Job Finder is refreshed. If a user unknowingly tried to open a job that has been previously destroyed, Workshop would crash. Workshop has now been fixed to warn that the job is deleted and cannot be opened. 10. Added Medium Copy option to skip jobs (savesets) which can't be read. When the medium copy tries to copy a tape with hard read errors, it could take a very long time. This new option allows tape copies to optionally skip problem files that can't be read to speed up the copy times. A new option has been added to the medium copy process plan. This new option is "Skip remainder of saveset after first file read error." The default value is Yes. 11. No longer get duplicate messages in process info from medium logical copy Some of the messages that appeared in the details pane of the process info window for medium logical copy were duplicated. This problem has now been fixed. 12. Workshop can now handle loose page output of an empty page position Previously, if you selected an empty page position (by itself or with other page positions) and selected loose page output and then visited the color mapping dialog, workshop would crash. Empty page positions can now be output with color mapping applied - the user is warned about the blank/empty pages for loose page output. 13. Workshop now permits loose page output of pages that have no process color content but have all spot colors mapped to process. Workshop now permits loose page output of pages that have no process color content but have all spot colors mapped to process. Prior to this change, the workshop would prevent the user from outputting such pages with a message that it thought the pages were empty. 14. Edit Color Separations dialog no longer appears to lose previously applied changes Under a special set of circumstances, the Edit Color Separations dialog showed that a previous set of changes were not applied - although in fact the changes were saved to the database. This problem has now been fixed. 15. ToolTips will no longer be left stranded on screen It was possible for a tooltip text window to be left on the screen even after the mouse had been moved off to another area. This was especially prevalent if "tooltipping" over the process info detail messages. This problem has now been fixed. 16. Import Imposition Plan dialog navigation improved In previous version of Prinergy 2.1, it took three tab key presses to move from Imposition Plan Name to PageSet Name in the Import Imposition Plan dialog. In Prinergy 2.0.7, it took only one tab key press. The original single key press behaviour has now been restored. 17. Mac dialogs with text boxes that receive initial focus are now highlighted properly. Prior to this change, when a Mac dialog first opens, if a text box was the intended component to initially receive focus, it wasn't highlighted (eg. with a blue outline in OS X) although keystrokes would be directed to the text box. This problem was especially annoying in the login dialog where the initial focus is on the password field. Highlighting now works as expected. 18. Vector output can now do font outlining on files with CID Identity H fonts. Font outlining of CID Identity H fonts can now be done on a server without Acrobat installed. The vector output JTP will use the system CMAP resources to get CID mappings. 19. New Trapper version A new version version of the trapper JTP (version 2.0.70) and the Trapper Plugin (version 2.1.35) is now installed. This version fixes a number of trapper issues: - Stroked self-intersecting paths are no longer garbled by trapper - Yellow text is now correctly set to overprint by trapper - Umlaut characters in TrueType fonts are no longer out of position after trapping - Colored vector characters no longer erroneously filled in when trapped - Steps are no longer missing from blend after trapping 20. Photoshop 7 ZIP and JPEG compressed TIFFS are now supported for OPI. Photoshop 7 includes support for ZIP-compressed TIFFs and JPEG-compressed TIFFs. These formats are now supported for OPI. 21. Bypassed composite pages now output with all CMYK separations In previous versions or Prinergy 2.1, bypassed composite pages output with only the K separation. Now, for bypassed composite pages, CMYK colorants are always registered for any composite page that contains bypassed parts. 22. Optimizer no longer erroneously reports missing Type 3 font for PDF files Previously, the Optimzer occasionaly reported missing Type 3 fonts for specific Type 3 fonts. This problem has now been fixed. 23. Database backup occasionally shows as successful even though system fails to back up the database A problem with the database backup was found where the database backup showed that it was successful even though the backup files were not created. The backup script now checks more carefully for additional evidence that the backup was created successfully and ensures that the backup files were actually created. 24. CS Xpose needs INI files generated for spot color workflow (Lotem Quantum spectrum) The CS Xpose needs INI files generated for spot color workflow (Lotem Quantum spectrum). Previously, this INI file was only generated for Kokak Approval TIFF output. Now, this INI is generated for Lotem Quantum spectrum connectivity. 25. CEPS JTP improvements There have been a number of improvements in the CEPS JTP for this release. These improvements include: - fix for Brisque 4 TIFF/IT problems - fix for other miscellaneous TIFF/IT problems - fix for some TIFF/ITs which resulted in an opaque transparency color 26. Fix for Staccato 10 licensing enforcement. When a task failed due to Staccato 10 not being licensed, the error message mentioned Staccato, but not Staccato 10, or the requested feature size. The error message has now been improved to includes these items. 27. Provide Solid Screening feature for low resolution output. This enhancement gives the ability for the user to use the Solid Screening feature for low resolution (<= 1440 dpi) output regardless of licensing. 28. Dual harmony calibration feature. Dual calibration uses the existing PPED UI to control a new feature that uses different calibration curves for a Back surface than a front surface. This merge should have no effect on the system's behavior, unless a NEW registry key SCRN\DualCalibrationMode is manually altered from the default of 0 (OFF) to 1 (ON). If dual calibration mode is ON, and the surface being output is a back surface, and the curve requested is %%AUTO%%, then the first Harmony query will search for a Spot calibration curve using the normal parameters for media, resolution, screen system, spot shape, and ruling, but with the word "Back" appended to the colorant name, e.g. CyanBack. If that search fails, but there is a CMYK or One color curve that matches all but the color name, then that curve will be used. In any case, the history will reflect which curve is actually used. 29. Updated Staccato licensing enforcement (now with 3 levels). Staccato screens are now licensed at three levels: Staccato 10 - feature sizes 10, 20, 20.1, 25, 35, 36, 40, 70 Staccato 20 - feature sizes 20, 25, 35, 36, 40, 70 Staccato 25 - feature sizes 25, 35, 36, 40, 70 Staccato 25 is the new licensing level, and Staccato 20 was previously known as Staccato. 30. IS and HQS Screening improvements - Previously, calibration curves were not used when using IS and HQS screening and outputting to 512 MB proofing JTP. This problem is now fixed. - Add history logging info when doing calibration with Heidelberg screening to be consistent with what is done with Creo screening. - Fixed Auto calibration for Heidelberg screening (HQS & IS). 31. Kodak Approval TIFF output now outputs successfully Kodak Approval TIFF output previously wasn't working and would fail to produce output but not give any warnings or errors. This problem has now been fixed. 32. Spot Color Database Angle doesn't work for Heidelberg screening. Heidelberg screening wouldn't pick up the spot color angle in the spot color database but would instead default to the same angle as black. This problem is now fixed. 33. Changed Staccato screening patterns to be consistent with VIP requests. 34. Plate output order for multiple impositions adjusted Previously, the Prinergy 2.1 output plate order when generating plates for multiple signatures selected as a single request differed from the Prinergy 2.0.7 order: Prinergy 2.0.7 order : Sig1-A, Sig1-B, Sig2-A, Sig2-B, etc. Previous Prinergy 2.1 Order : Sig1-A, Sig2-A, Sig1-B, Sig2B, etc. The task server has now been modified to ensure that all final output tasks are processed serially, thus ensuring that plates are in the "Expected Order" (i.e. by Signatures, then by Surfaces within Signatures). It still splits surfaces into subtasks to ensure that priority plating will work. 35. English versions of certain Acrobat Plugin help files installed for Spanish, French and Japanese acrobat versions English versions of the Acrobat plugin help files for TrapEdit and DotShop will be installed for Spanish, French and Japanese Acrobat versions. These will be updated with language specific versions when the translations become available. 36. Oracle DMZ registry key for InSite For security reasons, Oracle is now configured to a use a single specified port for its communications. 37. Optimizer now uses correct image resource when downsampling an image in a Form Uncertain conditions, some XObjects were direct objects which ddid not have a unique identifier. All XObject are now forced to be indirect objects so the images ontained within them now have a unique identifier.
