Prinergy Minor Update 2.2.1.1 for Prinergy 2.2.0 Release --------------------------------------------------------- Installing this minor update on your Prinergy system: Note: This procedure assumes that you have already downloaded the latest Prinergy Patch Utility (PPU) and the 2.2.1.y minor update(s) that you want to install to a local drive on your primary server and each secondary server and render station. The PPU must be version 2.2.1.1 or later. 1. Install the PPU on the primary server: Double-click the ppu.exe file that you downloaded. A command prompt window appears, indicating where the ppu.exe file will be updated. Follow the prompts. Once the PPU is updated, at the ppu> prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER. Repeat for each server in your system. 2. Put the system in Maintenance Mode: In Prinergy Administrator on the primary server, from the Tools menu, select Configure System. On the Maintenance tab, from the Maintenance Mode list, select On. When prompted, restart the computer. Manually reboot all secondary servers and render stations. Ensure Prinergy is stopped on all servers and render stations. 3. Run the PPU on each server to install the update(s): Log on to the server as an administrator. From the Start menu, select Run. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK. At the prompt, type: ppu -dir and press ENTER. The list of updates that will be installed appears. Follow the prompts. Reboot the server if prompted, but do NOT start Prinergy after the server reboots. Repeat for each server and render station in your system. 4. Take the system out of Maintenance Mode: On the primary server, in Prinergy Administrator, from the Tools menu, select Configure System. On the Maintenance tab, from the Maintenance Mode list, select Off. Click OK. Maintenance Mode is turned off. 5. Update each Workshop client, if necessary (not all minor updates are applicable to Workshop): On each client machine, start Workshop. At the Workshop login dialog box, enter the primary server name and, if it is enabled, click the Update button. (If the Update button is not enabled, the minor update(s) you installed on the primary are not applicable to Workshop, and you can simply start Workshop as normal). If the minor update(s) are applicable to Workshop, the client machine is automatically updated. I) PROBLEMS FIXED BY THIS MINOR UPDATE: --------------------------------------- 1. Incorrect error message when invalid license key was entered has been corrected. SCHN-0000369 2. DCS Vector files take a long time to place in Quark. When the composite print warning is not written to DCS Vector master files, Quark gets confused since there is no postscript at all in the file anymore. JBRF-0000461 3. A memory leak with proof output has been addressed. SCHN-0000368 4. The following Online Help and Quick Start Guides have been updated: -English Connect and Powerpack Online Help -German Connect , Direct, and Powerpack Online Help and Quick Start Guides -French Connect , Direct, and Powerpack Online Help and Quick Start Guides -Spanish Connect , Direct, and Powerpack Online Help and Quick Start Guides -Japanese Connect , Direct, and Powerpack Online Help and Quick Start Guides MWAE-0000025, SCHN-0000370 5. A new version of the Trapper JTP (version 2.0.84) and the Trapper Plugin (version 2.1.50) is now installed. This version fixes a number of trapper issues: -Gradation corrupted by trapper. -Logo partially missing after trapping. -Object gets colored incorrectly after trapping. -Characters move or are missing in asian font after trapping. BTOC-0000064, GMIR-0000433, GMIR-0000431, GMIR-0000430, RMON-0000199 6. Fixed PrintTime tag in VPS files. "printTime" now contains the same time for all associated separations, also month is no longer 0 based (was 0=January, etc., now is 1=January, etc.). BTOC-0000063 7. Fixed some Creo Trapper problems due to tiling patterns. RMON-0000215 8. File generating "GET" PS error with ShFillOverprintFix.ps loaded. File fails with offending command get that goes away when you remove ShfillOverprintFix.ps. JRON-0000021 9. Fixed a problem with pattern objects affecting the Creo Trapper. JRON-0000020 10. Harmony derived calibration curve look up not working in the Copydot JTP. If a derived calibration curve was used by the Copydot JTP, the lookup would fail because of an internal string error. GGEE-0000022 11. File generates SHFILL error with ShfillOverprintFix.PS loaded. Offending command shfill with a reference to Decode or Range. Goes away if you remove ShfillOverprintFix.ps. JRON-0000017 12. Rename Job sometimes fails when the Job Server doesn't shut down on time. Increased the time that we are waiting for the Job Server to shut down. MBOR-0000078 13. DCS Raster output is again compatible as input to Kodak Approval. DCS tag %ImageData was not being written correctly, this is now fixed. SEFR-0000022 14. The signatures thumbnail view was incorrect for centered pages with no geometry information. WVOH-0000037 15. Fixed a case where the Creo Trapper was hanging while processing a file. RMON-0000207 16. Reduce the number of exposed controls in Import Process Plan for the Normalize and Optimize sections. JVOO-0000279 17. Enhanced a new feature. KBAI-0000023 18. TIFFs created in 2.1.0.18 and 2.2.0.1 cause CS Xpose to error out. This has been corrected. JBRF-0000447 19. Smooth shades may not work correctly with new PDF Scaling and Rotation Feature. Smooth shade objects were not being scaled and rotated with the rest of the page, now they are. SEFR-0000021 20. Marks JTP should put "--" when it is unable to fill in a mark. Instead of substituting with " " when we cannot find a value for a variable mark, we now replace with "--". KISO-0000507 21. More New Variable Marks. The following variable marks have been added: -[$PageFileName] now includes filenames from versioned jobs. -[$ICCProfile] now only includes filename and not the entire path. -[$WebGrowthProfile] is the web growth profile (if it is applied). -[$UnmappedColorsOnSurface] is the colors on the surface before any color combining is performed. LMCE-0010095 22. Page Assigner JDf files which referred to file name that contained invalid URL string were not handled properly by Prinergy. The Import/Export JTP was not correctly decoding URL file paths within the JDF. This has been fixed. LMCE-0010093 23. Creo Color Matcher should use the recipe from any file in the job if the data base recipe is not available on output. GCAS-0000177 24. Creo ColorMatcher fails on replacing process colorants recipes with DeviceN recipes for DeviceN target profile. SKOV-0000016 25. Spot colors set to dieline, opaque, or opaque ignore, did not display in thumbnails. A bug in the calculation for combining spots in an additive color space (i.e. RGB) caused the spot to disappear. This has now been corrected. RMON-0000201, JBRF-0000449 26. VPS for PC does not recognize surface front and back after change to PRV extension. Both tiffs contained surface 0 and 1 but VPS for pc was looking at the file name not the surface information inside the file. Changes were made so that the surface information is taken from within the file. LMCE-0010091 27. Removed the composite print warning from the DCS vector output masterfile. SCHN-0000360 28. Copydot JTP occasionally hangs when generating alternate images. If the Copydot JTP processes very small JPEG images, the JPEG encoder will go into an infinite loop causing the JTP to hang. This has now been corrected. SCHN-0000357 29. When using Creo CM on output users can decide if they want the spot color recipes to come from the database or from the digital master. TFID-0000056 30. Updated formatting of the Creo Trapper and Creo ColoMatcher properties files. BTOC-0000057 31. Removed requirement for APA when doing interactive imposition. SWOG-0000092 32. Creo Color Matcher should convert Indexed DeviceGray to Indexed DeviceCMYK for separated pages. SVEL-0000026 33. Excessive History Messages were being generated by Optimizer. The Optimizer used to generate a History Message for every LoRes Image detected. This has now been changed: - only 1 message per page, per resolution instance is generated. AENH-0000020 34. Creo ColorMatcher used to fail on output with DeviceRGB source profile on the files with DeviceN color spaces with process colorants. HCHN-0010078, HCHN-0010076 35. DCS Raster output includes crop marks when multiple pages are output, but none when single page output. We were incorrectly including trim marks when multiple loose pages were output in the same process. Now, the same behaviour is used in both cases, trim marks are not included. GMIR-0000425 36. Spot Colors Defined as Ncolor fail a job for proofing - Creo Color Matcher error. If "use alternate color definition" (ACD) is off; and the recipe is in DeviceN color space; and no DeviceN profile is provided; the Creo Color Matcher will ignore this recipe and use the one from pdf file. If ACD is on with the same scenario as above, then the Creo Color Matcher will error out because there is no way to use the alternate recipe. GCAS-0000175, KLEW-0000112 37. Trim&Bleed lines are not being drawn on N-up Loose Proof Output. Trim&Bleed lines were purposely removed from Imposed Proof output in 2.1.0.18 & 2.2.0.1. This was to overcome problems with pages that didn't have a trim box defined. An unintended side effect was that these marks were also removed from N-up Loose Proof output. LMCE-0010089 38. Fix the calculations for the rotation and scaling of centered pages in the signatures view of the Workshop and in the output. The calculation of the transformations applied to assigned pages that were centered and had geometry with a scaling factor other than 100% or a rotation other than 0 degrees was incorrect. This resulted in incorrect imposition thumbnail views and incorrect values in the "Offsets" column of the sigatures list view. LMCE-0010088 39. Changed UI behaviour so that it defaults to "BACK" surface setting, when all imposed proofs are defined as "back" surfaces. KLEW-0000120 40. Creo Color Matcher: Overprint of a spot color looks different if converted to 6 color vs. 4 color. Color Matcher recognizes N-color spot recipes where some components have zero tint. If the recipe has a zero in it, the resulting color value will always have zero tint for that component when the spot is converted to DeviceN process. To achieve the same overprint effect as OPM=1 for DeviceCMYK, Color Matcher omits that component from the DeviceN colorspace used to represent the converted object. Any components that do have non-zero tint will knockout the same component of the background and this will change the appearance of the intersection between the overprinted object and the background. RMON-0000195 41. The behaviour of Generate Alternate Images has been corrected. Turning "Generate Alternate Images" ON would cause an error on Refine with certain input files. This is now fixed. KLEW-0000118 42. Flattener preserves embedded TrueType fonts. Embedded TrueType fonts were corrupted during the flattening process because they were not converted to Type42 (which is the way to preserve TrueType fonts during a PDF->PS conversion). Flattener now performs this conversion. GMIR-0000422 43. Rewriting of a PDF file by upstream JTPs / applications causes some Copydot images to be ignored. Previously it was possible for an application or a JTP upstream from the Copydot JTP to modify the content stream of a PDF file such that the Copydot JTP could not parse the images correctly. This has now been addressed. GGEE-0000018 44. Creo Trapper crashes when black X added to file by Normalizer. The black X that Normalizer adds to a file when an error situation is encountered (as per the options set by the user in the Refine process plan) causes the Creo Trapper to crash. The Normalizer no longer adds the X to the file but instead writes information to the CREO_Tools page key and then the Optimizer JTP (the last processor in the Refine process) will add the black X, if required. JBRF-0000436 45. Embedded font not preserved during Refine process. An embedded font with a problematic glyph (there was an invalid hint mask) was removed from a PDF file during flattening. The flattener was set up to to do a full font conversion and because the conversion did not work (due to the invalid glyph), the font was unembedded even though the glyph was not used in the PDF file. The flattener is now set up to do an incremental conversion (so only converts the glyphs required by the PDF file) and the fonts remains embedded. ALEH-0000148 46. Creo Trapper could not handle files using different colorspaces for stroke and fill. PDF files that use different colorspaces for stroke and fill will no longer crash the Creo Trapper. In cases where a potential blend used two different colorspaces that had the same dimension but did not use the same colorspace, a blend may no longer be detected -- and that correctly. This will happen most notably in cases where OPM is false and one of the colorspaces is DeviceCMYK. GMIR-0000418 47. When proofing with color matcher on and color model=CMYK, all CMYK should be output BTOC-0000050 48. Page Marks Shifted in Extreme 5.105. Extreme 5.105 handles the placement of some pages differently than 5.103. Some components where not taking this difference into account correctly. SEFR-0000020, MBAY-0000139, SZMA-0000034, SWOG-0000090 49. Refine status is now written to the Creo_Tools PDF Page key. The Creo_Tools key (at the PDF page level) is extended to convey information about the Refine process. There is an overall RefineStatus value (OK/Warning/Failure) and an array of Message dictionaries. If the Refine status is not OK, there will be one or more Messages describing what the problem was. ALEH-0000141 50. Creo Colormatcher can now be configured to NOT resolve ambiguous spot colors during Refine. Previously, Creo Colormatcher would always attempt to resolve multiple conflicting definitions (eg. conflicting CMYK recipes) of a single spot colorant during Refine of each page. It would replace all definitions of the spot colorant with a single definition and emit a warning message about the conflict and the resolution. Now this behaviour can be disabled or enabled explicitly with the control labelled "Resolve Ambiguous Spot Colour Definitions" on the ColorConvert section of the Refine process plan. GCAS-0000168 51. Normalizer now uses PDF 1.5 sniffer. The Normalizer JTP now uses our PDF 1.5 sniffer code to detect if an input PDF contains PDF 1.5 constructs. For now the Normalizer will detect and log a warning when PDF 1.5 is encountered. ALEH-0000139 52. Printlink improvements for older PECOM and MAN ROLAND systems. This allows the PrintLink JTP to follow an old PECOM specification if the registry is setup correctly. It also fixes 90/270 degree rotation on older MAN Roland systems. DMCA-0000045 53. Errors when outputting Heidelberg screens and "Use Document Screening" enabled. There were errors saying that a "Screening Configuration File Could Not Be Found" in certain jobs where document screening is used and the registry entry SCRN\DefaultDocumentScreenSystem is set to 1. SYOA-0000504 54. Overprinting problems after trapping have been fixed. Trapper changed to handle the rare case where "Interpolation=true" in black bitmaps. GMIR-0000406 55. Trapper crashes when selecting "Highlight Overprinting Objects". The crash happened if there were overprinting images without any visible area, i.e. overall clipping results in an empty shape. GMIR-0000405 56. CEPS Recognition fails to recognize CEPS content on PageComposer files. This has now been corrected. JBRF-0000407 57. File fails with invalid access offending command "copy". ReportMissingElem.PS was trying to copy an array from local memory to global memory. This caused the invalid access. ReportMissingElem has been updated to use another copy that is more thorough. ACHN-0000192 58. A Creo Trapper problem that was introducing artifacts in some files after trapping has been fixed. HCHN-0010059 59. When proofing with color matcher on and color model=CMYK, all CMYK should be output. ANEN-0000024 60. CEPS detector marks barcode as CEPS when it is not, this has now been fixed. RMON-0000183 61. JTP infrastucture change for Font Search Paths. Modified the base class for JTP so that methods are now available to retrieve Font Search path information from the Job Ticket and to have the system font path information (system fonts, CID fonts, CMaps) defined in one place. The Normalizer JTP is updated to use these new font search path methods for resource initialization. MALT-0000118 62. New process plan defaults. 1. The default value of Refine process plans should be such that no colormatching is performed. This is achieved by having the "Override embedded profiles" checkbox off. 2. Switch to using industry standard Adobe profiles as found in Photoshop and other Adobe products as the default profiles. JKLN-0000174 63. Large thumbnails are not working. Workshop UI did not pass the proper resolution type to the server, when large thumbnail display was selected in the preferences. This is now corrected. DKER-0000237 64. When proofing with color matcher on and color model=CMYK, all CMYK should be output. JKLN-0000173, JBRF-0000415 65. PDF files fail to refine with "EMC error" during Normalization. This problem was actually fixed in minor update 2.1.0.14. The PDF content parser was not handling nested BMC/BDC - EMC mark operators properly. JBRF-0000371, JBRF-0000379 66. Incorrect output when one of the colorants in the color space is not used is now corrected. BPOR-0000061, RMON-0000188 67. Sheetmarks for Loose-Proof Output are not positioned correctly if the artwork is "cropped" by changing the media box settings. Page marks where incorrectly positioned on loose page proofs if the page had been cropped in Acrobat. Also after refining a cropped page with the 'Treat input files as flat option' enabled, loose page or imposed output of the page would be incorrect. The trim boxes would be incorrectly positioned. This is now corrected. TFID-0000029 68. Fixed a problem with font outlining in the Creo Trapper. JBRF-0000362 69. CEPS JTP "CT Crop" feature yields CT-to-LW alignement problem on a certain page. This has now been corrected. JBRF-0000340 70. Workshop would sometimes crash with a nullpointer exception when archiving.
