Prinergy Minor Update 2.3.1.5 for Prinergy 2.3.1 Release --------------------------------------------------------- Installing this minor update on your Prinergy system: ----------------------------------------------------- Note: This procedure assumes that you have already downloaded the latest Prinergy Patch Utility (PPU) and the 2.3.1.x minor update(s) that you want to install to a local drive on your primary server and each secondary server and render station. 1. Install the PPU on the primary server: Double-click the ppu.exe file that you downloaded. A command prompt window appears, indicating where the ppu.exe file will be updated. Follow the prompts. Once the PPU is updated, at the ppu> prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER. Repeat for each server in your system. 2. Put the system in Maintenance Mode: In Prinergy Administrator on the primary server, from the Tools menu, select Configure System. On the Maintenance tab, from the Maintenance Mode list, select On. When prompted, restart the computer. Manually reboot all secondary servers and render stations. Ensure Prinergy is stopped on all servers and render stations. 3. Run the PPU on each server to install the update(s): Log on to the server as an administrator. From the Start menu, select Run. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK. At the prompt, type: ppu -dir and press ENTER. The list of updates that will be installed appears. Follow the prompts. Reboot the server if prompted, but do NOT start Prinergy after the server reboots. Repeat for each server and render station in your system. 4. Take the system out of Maintenance Mode: On the primary server, in Prinergy Administrator, from the Tools menu, select Configure System. On the Maintenance tab, from the Maintenance Mode list, select Off. Click OK. Maintenance Mode is turned off. 5. Update each Workshop client, if necessary (not all minor updates are applicable to Workshop): On each client machine, start Workshop. At the Workshop login dialog box, enter the primary server name and, if it is enabled, click the Update button. (If the Update button is not enabled, the minor update(s) you installed on the primary are not applicable to Workshop, and you can simply start Workshop as normal). If the minor update(s) are applicable to Workshop, the client machine is automatically updated. --------------------------------------------------------- This Prinergy update uses the following Adobe components: - Printer JTP (RIP): CPSI 3016.102-26 - CEPS Output JTP: CPSI 3015 - Flattener: 3016.102-23 - Normalizer: 6.0.5.1133 - PDF Library: 6.0.0 - NServer: 6.0.5 --------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- This release now fully supports running the client on OS 10.4 (Tiger). Added CTLW Output JTP pooling to Prinergy Administrator SKIR-0000278 19. Task server failed to process any tasks after dropping a .ps into an import hotfolder -This problem has been fixed. Independent postscript files (not used by any master files, like .pjtf) dropped into the hotfolders attached with import process plan will now be rejected by hotfolder. The task server is now also more tolerant to this situation. SYOA-0000690 20. Some characters were randomly changed during refine, especially when using CID Fonts -New version of Adobe Normalizer (6.0.5.1133) shipped in this update fixes these types of problems. JRON-0000337 21. Dynamic parameter transmission problem during Printer JTP startup -Multiple Printer JTPs starting up at the same time would sometimes end up sending corrupt dynamic parameters and screening information to the server. This could cause various problems. The symptoms could range from missing parameters in process plan editor, task creation failures, "Device and Service Daemon" crashes, to all JTPs going offline. Because the mixed up messages were intermittent, the exact symptoms would depend on the actual data content being mixed up, and the version of Prinergy. This problem has now been fixed by ensuring that Printer JTPs running on a server will send their dynamic parameter updates one at a time. Also, in previous updates changes were made to cleanup the dynamic parameter cache at Prinergy startup. With this fix in place, this has also been reverted back to normal so that a healthy dynamic parameter cache can be built up again. This update will however perform a one-time cleanup during installation, to clean up any potentially corrupted caches that may still exist prior to installing this update. SKIR-0000275 22. Problem with corrupted Japanese fonts -If the PDF file being processed contained multiple fonts with the same name and the font streams were larger than a certain size then the font stream would get corrupted. This has been fixed. KLEW-0000319 23. Wrong file gets refined when .ps and .pdf files with same names are dropped into hotfolder -This has been fixed. SYOA-0000681 27. Imposition server would crash if loose page proof task contained more than 255 pages -The Adobe PDF library crashed the imposition server when more than 255 pages were kept open. This has been fixed. SYOA-0000680 28. DCS Vector Output with "Render Shadings" enabled results in spot color recipes 0,0,0,0. This has been fixed. JBRF-0000824 29. Inconsistent hot folder behavior when updating an existing input file -A correction input file with same name as the file already in the job would be ignored by the hotfolder and an old input file would be re-refined. This has been fixed. LMCE-0010160 30. "Match Colors in Page Content" did not stay on when outputting to PDF Vector. This is now fixed. KLEW-0000309 31. Workshop: Assign Pages dialog shows pages in wrong order in some circumstances when using the "Sort by Input" button. This is now fixed. JBRF-0000808 32. Spot color screening was incorrect for certain files when "Keep Dotshop Settings" is chosen. -The files had a document screen that did not define the spot color. The problem has now been fixed. RMON-0000497 34. Automation server would crash if corrupted PDF files were dropped into hotfolder -SpoolServer server attempted to import the PDF file (using the Import/Export JTP), which later on led the AutomationServer into a code path that caused the crash. With this fix, the SpoolServer registers the corrupted PDF file and logs history messages. SYOA-0000665 35. Some .e files from Renaissance scanners do not work with OPI. -Some versions of these files were not properly recognized and so weren't processed by the OPI Engine. This has been fixed. In some circumstances, converting mark spot colors to process would generate too many separations. This is now fixed. -When using certain input files, and setting a spot color that was available in the marks to be convert-to-process, certain process colors would also be created during imposed proof, even if the spot color's recipe did not contain these separations. The extra separations showing up were depending on the color recipe of other spot colors that were set to output-separately within the same signature. KLEW-0000282 39. A certain page with pattern data was broken on output -This has been fixed. JHAA-0000158 40. Artifacts would occur on output of certain pages with scaled CEPS data. This is now fixed. JHAA-0000118 44. More accurate reporting of colorant usage on pages when certain types of shadings are used. JBRF-0000372 45. Smooth shades sometimes contain unexpected color casts after colormatch -Some applications (eg. Illustrator 8) use simple functions to define the colors in a smooth shade. Only the start color and end color are specified. ColorMatcher would colormatch the start and end colors only but this can sometimes be inaccurate for colors between the start and end. It is most noticeable for lighter colors in black shades where the ICC profile may call for significant Cyan, Magenta or Yellow at 100% black, but zero or very small C, M and Y from 0% to 50% or even 75% black. To correct this problem, ColorMatcher now samples the functions and accurately represents the colors between the start and end. KLEW-0000356 45. Fixed refine error in certain Japanese postscript files -Certain Japanese postscript files fail refine with "Error: rangecheck; OffendingCommand: repeat". This has been fixed.
