This procedure describes how to download an FPO (For Placement Only) version of an element directly from a library to a picture box in an Adobe InDesign layout. For more information, see About FPOs.
Note: This option is available in Synapse Desktop only; it is not available from a Web browser.
Create a picture box in your InDesign layout.
In Synapse Desktop, select an element and drag it directly onto the picture box that you created in step 1.
The download begins automatically, bypassing the Download Elements dialog box. A placeholder image appears in the layout while the element is being downloaded. This enables you to work on the layout and even move the placeholder while the download is in progress.
Once the download is complete, the placeholder image remains in the layout until InDesign updates the layout's placed image links. InDesign updates image links in both of the following cases:
When you switch to another program and then switch back to InDesign
When you invoke preflighting by selecting Edit > Preflight (you can perform image link updates in the Preflight dialog box)
When either situation occurs, the layout's placeholder image is swapped for the FPO image.
