Service Information:

Before every plot, the focus servo must learn the drum profile. This is done to guarantee that the first swath imaged will be in focus the first time.

Operator Action:

Cancel the job if possible. Check that the plate does not have any large dents in it. Try another plate, if not successful, call service.

Cause:

• Head was not installed properly.
• Plate not loaded on drum properly. For example, there is a large bulge near the leading edge clamp.
• The plate is not cut even on the edge detect side. The focus is having to learn on/off the plate. This is not an ideal situation.
• There are large dents on the plate.
• Drum speed is too large.
