Tfx Command
fload bundle

Description Load the firmware bundle ( binary download ).

Erase the flash and download the firmware bundle into flash. The process is confirmed before the flash is erased to prevent accidental erasure of the flash. Note that the confirmation should consist of only the character 'y' or the character 'Y'. All other characters including line termination characters will be handled as part of the firmware download.

The firmware bundle consists of a flashboot loader, file directory, firmware file and Xilinx files. The firmware bundle is a binary file where the first four bytes are the number of words to program, the last two bytes are the checksum of the file and the remainder of the bytes are the data that will be programmed into the flash. Thus the physical length of the file will equal the number of words to program times two ( two bytes per word ) plus the six bytes of overhead. All bytes in the binary file form words where the high byte is first and the low byte is last.

Once the monitor command has been confirmed and the flash is erased, the monitor command will wait a maximum of two minutes for the first four bytes ( the number of words to program ) and then a maximum of five seconds for each additional two bytes ( one word of data to program into flash ). Note that this means a download can be quickly terminated by manually entering a minimum of four bytes and then waiting for five seconds for the download to timeout. Note that if the binary download is aborted, the flash is corrupt and a binary ( or Y-modem ) download must be completed successfully.

If the download is successful, then the number of words that have been programmed will be displayed on the diagnostic monitor. The number of words that have been programmed should match the number of words to program ( the first four bytes of the file ).

Note that this process only downloads the firmware bundle into the flash and does not affect the firmware executing from RAM. A power cycle is required to re-load the firmware from flash into RAM.

Notes Thermal 1.0 / 1.7x equivalents:
  • The monitor command fload bundle does not have an equivalent.
  • Firmware downloads from the host are supported by the command sequence head program, head boot and fload head code.
