Zero the beam-balance sensor by acquiring 128 beam-balance sensor samples with the focus laser and the write laser off. The average sample is subtracted from the beam-balance sensor samples to compensate for sensor and amplifier offsets when calculating the head power. The focus laser and the write laser must be off to ensure that leakage from the focus laser or the write laser does not affect the calculation.
