When performing a plot, the polarity type specifies the polarity of the light valve.

|
| The polarity types are defined as follows:
|
|
|
- Polarity type 0 plots in high polarity only.
- Polarity type 1 plots in low polarity only.
- Polarity type 2 plots in both high and low polarity ( a polarity switch occurs at the end of every swath ).
- Polarity type 3 plots in both high and low polarity ( a polarity switch occurs between plots ).
