Staccato® is a stochastic or FM screening solution. Staccato is installed with workflow software, for example, Brisque, iMPAct, or Prinergy®. Once installed and licensed, Staccato screens display in the workflow software, and you use the workflow software screening controls to select Staccato screens and apply them to elements (images, pages, separations, or forms) of a job.

Depending on the Prinergy version and licensing/enabling of Staccato, you can see several Staccato options in Prinergy process plans: Staccato SmartColor, Staccato Hex, Staccato 6c, and Staccato-6c-pantone-CMYKOG.
Staccato SmartColor is a special implementation of Staccato for a company named ImageLinx. Staccato SmartColor will not be released to other customers. ImageLinx has several locations, and a few of those locations use this special Staccato screen. The size of the screen is Staccato 18, which is between Staccato 10 and Staccato 20. No other Staccato feature sizes are included with Staccato SmartColor, and Staccato SmartColor is only available with a special screening DLL available in Prinergy 2.1.0.13. The license key for Staccato SmartColor is named Staccato 18 series, and the name of the screen in Prinergy workshop process plans is Staccato SmartColor. See also Licensing and enabling Staccato SmartColor for Prinergy 2.1.0.13.
Staccato Hex uses six unique tile patterns instead of the four unique tile patterns available with Staccato. It is suitable for use with low-resolution devices and is intended primarily for use on inkjet DOD printers. Specifically, Staccato Hex is intended for use with the direct-connect Epson output option in Prinergy; it is not intended for use with platesetter devices.
Staccato-6c and Staccato-pantone-6c-CMYKOG are enabled with a Spotless license key. The Spotless license key includes a special Staccato license key. Staccato-6c and Staccato-pantone-6c-CMYKOG use the same six-screen tile sets. The only difference between the two screens is that the pantone-labelled one automatically populates the process plan dialog box with Hexachrome-labelled color separation names for the customer's convenience. See also Staccato-6c Screening and Prinergy 2.1 Technical Bulletin and the Spotless Extended Color Management web site.
Staccato 10/20/25 is currently in Early Production and is the latest Staccato offering.
