Browsers and plug-ins

You can view TechPlanet with the following browsers:

Not all features of this site are available in all web browsers. Opera for PC/Mac and IE4.x for Mac, for example, do not support the full Top Navigation Bar.

Although no plug-ins are absolutely required to view TechPlanet, you may need specific plug-ins such as Shockwave Flash, RealPlayer, Adobe Reader, Visio Viewer, or Autodesk Design Review to view some content. If you need help setting up your browser or plug-ins, contact the Help Desk for your region.

Note that you can choose to view all PDF documents in a separate Reader window, rather than in your browser window. To adjust this setting:

CD icon

This offline version of the site includes a compact disc icon, next to the TechPlanet logo. This is meant to clearly distinguish between pages that are being viewed on CD versus those on the live TechPlanet site.

Contact Us

This link, located in the Utility Link Bar (above the Top Navigation Bar), opens an e-mail message for sending feedback to the TechPlanet team at techplanet_feedback@creo.com. Please use it, as the message automatically includes the title and location of the page you are on, which helps us more quickly track down and fix any problems.

Cookie crumb navigation

This term is used to describe the row of text links at the top of the content area, which displays the navigation path to the current page. For example, the cookie crumb path to the Lotem 800 site is:

TechPlanet Home > Output > Computer to Plate > Lotem 800

In certain cases you will notice that the cookie crumbs follow a different path from the one you have taken. This is because in the menu, some products fall under two product groups, but the cookie crumbs only display the one “default” logical path to the page. (An example of such a product is the Trendsetter/Proofsetter Spectrum, which is now located in the “Proofing” category, but can also be found in the “Output” category’s menu.)

External access to TechPlanet

You can access TechPlanet from outside the firewall (that is, from any workstation with Internet access) by going to https://techplanet.creo.com. All users of the secure, external version of the site will be required to log in: Kodak employees must do so using their standard network login username, password, and domain; other registered users of the site (VARs, resellers, partners, etc.) should use the usernames and passwords they’ve already been assigned (i.e. no domain is necessary). Old firewall passwords will no longer be required for external access.

If you are using Netscape Navigator or a Macintosh computer to access TechPlanet, the domain entry should be part of the user name. The format is: Domain-name\User-id.

The information on the external copy of the site is regularly refreshed with up-to-date content from the Intranet version of TechPlanet (that is, every few minutes).

Look and feel

TechPlanet does not have a “unique look” as the Technical Library and SupportZone sites had. Rather, our look reflects a new, more unified, corporate look and feel. The new look is also meant to convey the global nature of the TechPlanet services.

Hint: Don’t miss the handy Utility Link Bar, located above the Top Navigation Bar, at the very top of the window.

Menu performance

Some computer hardware/configurations and some web browsers can exhibit poor performance when displaying the full, cascading Top Navigation Bar. If you experience unacceptable menu performance you can clear the Menu check box to the right of the Top Navigation Bar. This disables the cascading portion of the menu, and will improve the speed at which TechPlanet web pages display.

Notes:

Print-friendly mode

When you need to print out content from TechPlanet, there is no need to change the settings of your printer to fit the layout of the content. Instead, click on the icon, which is located above the Top Navigation Bar. A new window will open up with a preview of the page you are on as it will appear in printed form. The new window displays only the content of the page, without the site graphics (navigation bar and side bar). This will format the page to fit on regular paper without difficulty, and will remove the side menu and other components. Click on "Print" and continue as usual.

Search

This link is located in the Utility Link Bar (above the Top Navigation Bar). New search features include:

Search for this initial version of TechPlanet is a significant improvement over both the former Technical Library and SupportZone searches, but it does not solve all issues. For example, it does not address our still-limited offline search capabilities. Look for further improvements in the near future.

For more information, refer to the Search Help page.

Side menus

The side menus on product sites consist of the available content categories. Each product site lists only the categories relevant to that product.

The standard TechPlanet side menu categories are:

Note that the following sites use unique side menu layouts: Lotem 800, MCU for Lotem 800, ThermoFlex Mid/Narrow, Lotem XL, Networker (Legato), Timna, Media, and all Dolev sites.

Submit Troubleshooting Info

This link, located in the Utility Link Bar (above the Top Navigation Bar), is available for those who wish to submit troubleshooting information for posting to TechPlanet. The information entered on the Submit Troubleshooting Info form is stored in a temporary folder and is included in any search queries. TheTechPlanet team monitors the folder. automatically sent to us in the form of an email message. After the initial submission, the information is reviewed, edited, and moved to the appropriate product site(s).

For help information about the Submit Troubleshooting Info form’s fields, refer to the Submit Info Help page.

Top Navigation Bar

The Top Navigation Bar (the dark grey bar near the top of the page) displays the comprehensive new Kodak Product Groupings. These groupings combine all products in 8 categories based on the corporate product grouping, with modifications to accommodate the needs of the Support community. Certain products appear under more than one category in order to enable intuitive access to these products.

The Top Navigation Bar is accessible from every page on the site. When the (optional) cascading portion of this menu is enabled, it allows you to see which products fall under each category, and to browse from product to product without having to return to the TechPlanet home page.

For information about enabling/disabling the cascading portion of the Top Navigation Bar, refer to the Menu Performance section above.
