Error Number: 15316

Error Message:

ALE: Multiple plates on drum (or head out of alignment by %d microns). Cancel image to unload plate.

Applies to:

  • Trendsetter_400/800_Auto

Operator Action:

Select the RESUME button on the workstation dialog box. If this fails to correct the problem, either the head is out of alignment, the plate thickness was not set up properly, or more than one plate was loaded onto the drum. Select CANCEL IMAGE to unload the plate(s) back out the front of the machine. If only one plate is unloaded, then Creo Service should be called.

Service Information:

This error is reported if the firmware measures a thickness much larger then expected during the focus learn before plotting.

It may be useful to set the 'verbose plot' parameter to 1 in order to obtain further diagnostic information about the measured plate thickness.

If this error comes up with only one plate on the drum, check the head alignment. Re-align if possible. Otherwise, adjust the 'sys hc' (head compensation) parameter to offset the alignment error. Add the number reported in the error message to the current value of 'sys hc'. Try another plot with this new value. If several media types are used on this machine, try the new 'sys hc' value with each media type that has multiple plate detection enabled (media mpd set to 1).

The media thickness calculation is based on the average lens position determined by the head. The thermal 1.7x heads return a value relative to a 305 micron plate. The thermal 2 heads return a value relative to the media thickness used to install the head. If a media thickness other than 305 micron (0.012") is used to install the head, the 'sys hc' parameter must be adjusted to be ( 305 - media thickness used during head install ).

Note: With Thermal 2, firmware versions 1.00 and ealier did not do plate thickness measurements, so if this error comes up, multiple plate detection should be disabled entirely from the MPE.

Cause:

  • The head may be out of alignment.
  • Early Thermal 2 head firmware running which doesn't return average lens position.
  • (Thermal 2) Head installed based on non-305 micron plate, but the 'sys hc' parameter was not adjusted accordingly.
  • The plate thickness may not be set up properly.
  • The machine may have loaded more than one plate onto the drum.
