Error Number: 17038

Error Message:

HEAD: special plot mode not supported with the laser head set to <mode pps> pps

Applies to:

  • Trendsetter_400/800_Proofing

Service Information:

Proofing media that requires special_plot_mode also requires very specific head stroke widths. Currently only 192 pps and 224 pps heads are supported for imaging proofing medias.

The mode pps is displayed in the error message.

Operator Action:

Ensure the correct resolution is selected in the workstation RIP settings. If it is and the problem persists call Creo Customer Support for help.

Cause:

  • The workstation specified the incorrect plot mode for the image. Check that the RIP output resolution is indeed 2400 dpi.
  • The plot mode pps is incorrectly set. It should be set equal to the head stroke width.
  • The wrong head type was installed on the machine, one that is not 192 or 224 pps. Oops, better get another head if you want to use it on any Spectrum machine. Or see if there happens to be a newer firmware version that supports special_plot_mode with the current head resolution.
  • The nvs media special_plot_mode parameter is incorrectly set to something other than 0, and the head stroke width is something other than 192 or 224 pps.
  • This Spectrum firmware is installed on a non-spectrum system with a head resolution other than 192 or 224 pps, and you also have the media spm parameter set to something other than 0. Oops, better change the firmware.
