Satellite I/O Board Firmware
Latest Firmware Versions:
| Component | Current Version | Release Notes | Download |
| GENINE & PDB BBR FIRMWARE | 1.03 | Release Notes | n/a - must use BMM Programming Card |
| GENINE & PDB RECOVERY FIRMWARE | 1.00 | Release Notes | Get Recovery Code (download over serial port) |
| GENINE & PDB BOOT CODE | 1.09 | Release Notes | Get Boot Code (download
over serial port)
CAUTION: Ensure you have at least BBR v1.03 or newer already installed before attempting to upgrade satellite board firmware over the CAN Bus. V1.09 Boot code now defaults to 500KHz, while previous versions use 909KHz! Get BMM Prom Image(program 2 Atmel 29C040 flash chips) |
| LIONEL BOOT CODE | 1.00 | Release Notes | Get LIONEL Boot Code
This boot code can only be programmed into the LIONEL board by using the P&E "Cable12" BDM programming device attached to the PC parallel print port. |
| MAIN FIRMWARE | 1.16 | Release Notes | Get GENINE Firmware
CAUTION: Ensure you have at least BBR v1.03 or newer already installed before attempting to upgrade satellite board firmware over the CAN Bus. |
| SNIF | 1.03 | Get GENINE SNIF Diagnostic Firmware |
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR USERS:
Starting with MAIN firmware v1.16, the LIONEL satellite board Rev 'B' is supported. There is no support for the older original prototype Rev 'A' LIONEL boards.
Starting with MAIN firmware v1.15, the default CAN Bus baud rate has changed to 500KHZ from the previous rate of 909KHz. You MUST ensure that ALL of your CAN Bus based satellite board are running at the same CAN Bus baud rate, or the SCON bus will not work! Version 1.15 can be set to the previous CAN Bus baud rate of 909KHz., via the monitor command "sat canbaud 909". You must cycle power to the satellite board after this command is given for the new CAN Bus baud rate to take effect.
Firmware Component Descriptions:
| BBR |
Boot Block Recovery Code. This code runs from the protected flash boot-block sector and is only re-programmable by using the BMM card. |
| RECOVERY | Recovery Code. This firmware is downloaded over the diagnostic serial port, when the BBR is running. Use Bload.Exe utility v1.09 or newer. Normally this will never be required, unless the BBR could not find valid Boot code. |
| BOOT | Boot Code. Runs from a field eraseable flash sector. Allows downloading of the main firmware across the CAN bus. |
| MAIN | The main operating firmware that controls the satellite I/O board during normal operation. Resides in a field eraseable flash sector. |
| POST | Power On Self Test. Runs before the main firmware and performs satellite i/o board specific hardware tests. |
| SNIF | Special firmware for the GENINE satellite I./O board, that allows it to be used as a passive CAN Bus SCON packet monitor. Drives the diagnostic serial port at 57600. Use a terminal emulator program. Version 1.02 and older, only runs at 909KHz on the CAN Bus. Use v1.03 (or newer) for use with the newer default Can Bus baud rate of 500KHz. |
