Dolev 4press - Installation
Setup and Configure Dolev 4press

Overview

This section explains how to verify that the CreoScitex software versions used on the Imagesetter and on the Host are compatible, and how to configure the Imagesetter into the Host.

Verifying Software Versions

Overview

Before starting work, you need to verify that the CreoScitex software version running on the Imagesetter is compatible with the CreoScitex software version installed on the Host PS/2*.

On the Imagesetter

During startup, the Imagesetter automatically loads its software.

The number of the currently loaded Imagesetter software version is indicated on the Control Panel’s LCD screen (see Control Panel, Imagesetter Micro Version above).

On the Host PS/2*

  1. On the Library screen, select Show from the Utility strip.
  2. Select Version Information from the Show menu.
The window that appears indicates the number and information related to the currently installed CreoScitex Host software version (and to software updates, if such exist).
  3. Select Continue to return to the Library screen.

To update the Imagesetter software, proceed as follows:

If the software versions are not compatible, you probably need to update the CreoScitex software on the Imagesetter.

  1. Obtain the CreoScitex Imagesetter software that is compatible with the CreoScitex software on the Host PS/2*.
  2. Ensure that the software update disk is write-protected, and insert the disk into the Floppy Disk Drive at the Imagesetter rear (refer to the Imagesetter Rear View figure above).
  3. Reset the Imagesetter before continuing (refer to the Reset section above).

Configuring the Imagesetter into the Host

Before continuing, make sure you verified the software versions of the Imagesetter and the Host PS/2*.

Proceed as follows on the Host PS/2*:

  1. On the Library screen, select Services from the Utility strip.
  2. Select Shut System Down from the Services menu and Shutdown on the message which appears.
  3. At the Console Login: prompt, type sciutil. The system loads the CreoScitex Utilities application.
  4. Select 1. Local Devices Configuration from the CreoScitex Utilities menu.
  5. Select 6. Imagesetter SetUp from the Local Devices Configuration menu.
    The Imagesetter Setup window appears.
  6. Toggle the Device Type field to Dolev 4press.
  7. The Size fields indicate the height and width of the image plotting area. Note: Although you may decrease these values to limit the plotting area, they are overwritten when you perform Get Params from Plotter.
  8. Toggle the Ripping Type field to Single [the default] for the standard work mode, or to Dual (dual RIP mode) to enable two (2) workstations to expose on one (1) Imagesetter.
  9. No action is required for the Card Type field, since it should specify VLSI at all times.
  10. Press <F1> (Save & Exit) to store these settings.
  11. Press <F8> (Quit) until you exit the CreoScitex Utilities application.
  12. Load the CreoScitex Main application (refer to Activating the CreoScitex Main Application above).
