Designed for full automation and high reliability
The Dolev 4news imagesetter integrates the new technologies and perfected mechanical components of this device. It assures a very high accuracy, an ultra-reliable transport mechanism, and superior automatic film loading and unloading.
Optimized for newspaper publishing
The Dolev 4news has a maximum imagesetting area of 22 by 28.5 inches. Film size and net image area are optimized for a wide variety of presses for exceptional versatility. The imagesetter produces single broadsheet films ready for plates, or double broadsheet films ready for cross punching.
Scitex Class Screening for maximum flexibility & quality
The imagesetter includes the advanced CreoScitex Class Screening on the IBM PS/2* computer-based front end. Screen ruling can be up to 175 lines per inch and resolution is continuously variable from 900 to 2032 lines per inch.
High speed boosts productivity
The internal-drum device has a high-speed, air-bearing spinner that rotates at 24,000 rpm, exposing film in a very short time. In one hour, including film loading and unloading, and at a resolution of 1,016 lines per inch, the Dolev 4news images the following: up to 42 single broadsheet films ready for exposing plates, or up to 36 double broadsheet films ready for cross punching.
Operation is fast, easy and reliable
Operating in daylight, the imagesetter includes a fast, automatic film feed. An LCD display shows work in progress and film status. For high throughput, the standard accumulating cassette allows you to expose over 60 feet of film. An in-line film processor can be added for maximum efficiency.
Choice of front ends with professional functions
For local imagesetting, the Dolev 4news is driven by a Pentium-based IBM PS/2* computer functioning as a RIP front end. It includes CreoScitex Class Screening capabilities. For remote imagesetting, the Dolev 4news is driven by a CreoScitex Telepress controller, with compression factors up to 30:1 (depending upon the model), RS-422 interface with RS-232 compatibility, and impressive data communication speeds up to 2 MB/s.
Punching option
In order to accommodate the newspapers market, Dolev 4news supports punch holes on three (3) sides of the film.
That is, in addition to the punch holes of Dolev 4press which may be located on two (2) sides of the film, Dolev 4news uses a Tail punch to punch holes on the third side of the film.

Slugs Cleaning
It is important to clean the punch slugs every 3 months.
Side punch: Open the left door, remove the slugs cover and remove the slugs from the basket. Replace the basket and the cover.
Bar Punch: Unload the film from the drum. Open the right door and remove the slugs collector and clean it. The slugs collector is located above the loading cassette place and can be removed through the loading drawer.
Place the collector back and make sure to hang it on it's three hooks.
Tail Punch: Open the right door. Locate the tail punch slugs collector on the back ( right ) side of the drum. Clear the slugs from the collector.
Make sure that slugs will not fall inside the imagesetter.
