In this update you will find few
new tips for common problems you will probably facewhile working with the D4P. These
problems were reported by some of you and I would like to share them with you all.
Attached to this update you will find the previous update for
those of you that did't get it.
In that attachment I corrected a mistake which I made
in the TIPS FOR INSTALLATION,
The correction is appears in BOLD font.
I thank those of you that updated me regarding the product
status and ask you to continue, in this way so we might have easier life ...
1. Attach film crash.
The processor (if connected) is pulling the film too fast,
or the pulling is not well controlled and inconsistent (pulling from time to time)..
Solutions (contributed by the processors engineers)
reducing the conveyor speed
reducing the conveyor motor deactivation delay (in hope) or
the P parameter (in G&J).
You should see that the conveyor is not pulling the film from
the drum and that there is a buffer in the conveyor adapter.
In case of Acc. cassette you might find that the LOOSE BUFFER
is too small.
The TKM velocity is too fast comparing with the LDM velocity
(& vice version).
If the RELIEF parameter is not 0,0 than reduce it.
There is a shift in the film movement .
The encoders are not placed properly.
The film is too curly (experimental films).
2. Cutter motor overload.
If there is a film buffer near the knife.
With On-Line - check if the conveyor pull the film on time
and not too slow.
WORK AROUND
Lower the ADVANCE speed of the TKM & LDM in the setup
If the cutter doesnt begin to cut - check that the knife is
properly placed and smoothly moving.
Clean the cutter rods.
If the above is O.K replace the DC MOTOR DRIVER board.
3. HCRI INDEX FREQ. ERR.
It can be caused by few reasons:
Problem in the spinner driver.
Problem in the HCRI.
Problem in the HOMC.
Problem in the DYNAMIC OPTIC.
In this case try to perform Index calibration (like in the
D250/450),
If it doesnt help change the DYNAMIC OPTIC.
4. FILM NOT GRASPED.
The cassette mouth or the plotter mouth doesnt open properly.
The LOOSE buffer length parameter is too long (normal range is
4-7)
5. First Advance Crash.
Shifting during the film movement.
Forces calibration.
The TKM speed is too slow.
Film guides (and RONI guide) are not properly mounted.
6. LASER POWER EXCEEDED
Run Laser graphs & NDF graph.
The fibber optic is not properly connected (check all the
connectors)
The STATIC OPTIC (LASER) is defective.
The HOMC is defective.
The LDT electronic board the LDT on the dynamic are defective.
7. Laser lines.
Check if the PS/2 is on SINGLE QUEUE mode (sciutil).
HOMC
Static optic.
ATTACHMENT
PS/2
- Manual flat & save film doesnt work properly.
- The PS/2 cant quit Diagnostic properly, you have to reboot.
- You might get communication problems if you try to run heavy
ripping jobs on the background. Install the PS/2 as : sciutil/local devises configuration/PS/2 configuration/ dual queue - NO,
until a better solution will be found.
micro 5.00
The software is sometimes loosing control, you (or the
customer) will have to use the reset button to solve the problem.
Hardware
It seems that there are many cases which we have to calibrate
the following items during the installation:
Solenoids
HP detector
motors parameters
In certain cases you will find the LDM and/or TKM loosen a
bit, its OK. Until a new FCO will replace the motor coupling.
We faced problems with the film movement to the Acc. Cassette.
Make sure the DC MOTOR DRIVER comp level is L.
HOMC - PC communication errors can cause all kind of problems.
We have faced problems with the plotter PC disc.
Please calibrate the HP at every installation, even if no
error massage appears.
Tips for installation:
We have 3 locking places, two lockers at each place.
First try the plotter to the Acc. cassette and after
everything is working properly change it to the on line (if required).
You might have light lick from the back lock screws holes, if
they are not properly closed.
You might have light lick from the back panel due to placing
it up side down.
At the installation make few first loading sequences with open
doors and watch carefully
for proper film flow, especially near the TKM shaft (if its
not the case check the unloading forces and first load parameters.
Dont forget to tell the customer not to use CHANGE MEDIA if
he has
film crash. Use EMPTY DRUM only.
Take an empty diskette with you and back up on it all the
parameters at the end of the installation. Put the diskette in the plotter.
Dont hesitate to use the reset button with software problems.
I would like to have your help in defining the problems as
soon as we can, in order to do so I need your co-operation in sending me the QFRs and any
problem you have faced.
