Preventing "Attach Film Crash" Error Caused by Vibrations

Author/Submitter: J. Buczynski (19/10/97)

Product Family: Imagesetters / Platesetters

Problem
Sometimes Dolev 4press will give an attach film crash in the middle of plotting.
A cause and solution was found by Jim Field at a couple of sites. The problem was that these Dolev 4presses were connected to in-line processors of a certain type. When the processor pumps came on to revitalize or regurgitate the chemicals in the processor, the processors would vibrate. This, in turn, would make the Dolev 4press vibrate. The encoder, in this way, also came to vibrate and this encoder vibration causes the error. This happens more often with one type of Dolev 4press because of the placement of the encoder. (The stability of the metal bracket is not very good and it vibrates.)

Solution
The solution is to remove the pumps in the processor and hang them on the hoses. This eliminates the vibration.
