Scratches on Film

To check for the source of scratches on film:

If a conveyor is used - unload to the conveyor and to the cassette.

If the scratch is in the conveyor path only check the conveyor by feeding to the conveyor only and check the funnel in the on-line side. Check the conveyor entrance and the conveyor belts.

• If the scratch is on the cassette path check the funnel in the cassette side.
• If the scratch is on both paths go to next step.

Load film from each cassette and check for the one with scratches.

Remove the "scratching cassette" and check the cassette only.

Put back the cassette, check if the scratch is from the loading system only.

If the scratch is from the all path and not just from the loading system:

• Check if the scratch is from the dynamic optic ( check the shutter protector ).
• Check if the scratch is from the spreader.
• Check if the scratch is from the loading cubes.
• Check the unloading film guide.

If the scratch is from the loading system only:

• For the upper cassettes check/clean the "triangle" film guide base.
• Check/clean the aluminum roller.
• Check that the film is not touching during loading the unloading film guide.
• Clean the Teflon on the blade.
• Check and polish if needed the loading system plate.
• Check if FCO 17766 is needed.

Make sure everything is clean!

If any part was replaced or FCO was implemented, load several films to "clean" the new path.
