Dolev Version 1.062 Release Notes

These release notes describes the changes and additions that have been made to the Dolev^® 800 family since software version 1.060. The release notes describe the new features, known problems, and installation instructions for version 1.062.

New features

• Error mechanism in multi-tasking mode—notifies the host which task, if any, failed during plot sequence
• Task Queue for CS Xpose—improves the communication logic between the plotter and the host(s)
• Improved program code for OMC board for improved roller movement
• Idle Spinner Rotation option—prevents the spinner from shutting down after 3 minutes
• Spinner startup timeout expanded to enable more time for spinner set—if the task fails, the plotter makes a second attempt to reach the desired spinner rotation speed
• Auto cassette sequence improved—if the user selects Auto Cassette and the task fails, the plotter tries to work with another cassette without cancelling the exposure
• Feeder offset and roller offset are now independant of each other

Known problems

• OMC board comp level configuration—in Service Operation mode, all levels under level “M” are identified as “K”

Installation

There is a difference between the format of information files contained in the Software Machine Parameters prior to, and after, version 1.060. Updating from earlier versions to version 1.060 or higher changes the old save format to the new save format.

For versions earlier than 1.060, follow these instructions to ensure the smooth transition to version 1.062 or higher.

1. Verify that the existing version works properly.
2. Save all parameters to a Software Machine Parameters (501V1M353) diskette. This diskette is effective for versions earlier than 1.060, and is necessary if you want to reinstall the earlier version.
3. Write down the media information for all three cassettes on paper.
4. Install the new software.
5. On the first startup, a fatal error appears. Ignore it.
6. Manually restore the media parameters that you recorded in step 3.
7. Adjust the values of the feed and roller offset parameters. This prevents the error message Roller not at Safe Position.
8. Save all the parameters to a new Software Machine Parameters diskette. (This diskette is effective for versions 1.060 and later).

• Version 1.062 is compatible with all workflow types except for Dolev 800 V+ and V2 when they are defined as Bitmap and used with one of the following:
  • Founder Eagle RIP
  • Dolev TIFF expose
  With either of these configurations, use version 1.034.
• To return to an earlier version, delete the contents of the Setup directory under C:\PLOT\SETUP, and then, after installing the earlier version, use the Software Machine Parameters diskette to restore all previous parameters.
• After installation, you must adjust the feed and roller offset values, even if you are updating from version 1.060 or higher. See step 7 above.
