Dolev 800V Spinner control loop - Troubleshooting

The following cases are the most typical cases of spinner control loop failures.

1. Fast Power Converter failure.

In any cases of failure of the spinner power supply (V_B – 36 VDC) the VB green LED on the board will be off.
The above will cause the left and the right LED’s on the Spinner Drv. to be off as well.
When sending a plot the spinner will not rotate and the three messages below will appear during the prepare plot.

• Spinner Set Err.
• Encoder Frame Warn.
• Cri Pll Frequency Err.

2. DC B.L SPINNER DRIVER failure.

Most of the failures on the Spinner Drv. will cause spinner rotation problems. (The spinner will not rotate at all or will not reach the right speed and eventually will Stop).
Check that left LED is turned off when starting to rotate the spinner, and after few seconds it turn on again (it means that the rotating command from the OMC is Good but due to failure on the Spinner Drv. the spinner is not rotating).
When sending a plot the spinner will rotate and stop, or will not rotate and the   three messages below will appear during the prepare plot.

• Spinner Set Err.
• Encoder Frame Warn.
• Cri Pll Frequency Err.

3. Motor cable or Hall sensor failure.

The second LED (from the right) on the Spinner Drv. will be on (in addition to the Left and right LED).
The above indication shows a "loss of commutation signals"
When sending a plot the spinner will not rotate and the  three messages below will appear during the prepare plot.

• Spinner Set Err.
• Encoder Frame Warn.
• Cri Pll Frequency Err.

4. Encoder cable or Index signal failure.

Spinner will rotate and will reach the right speed but due to the missing Index Pulses the S/W will shut off the spinner.
When sending a plot the spinner will rotate and stop and the  three messages belowwill appear during the prepare plot.

• Spinner Set Err.
• Encoder Frame Warn.
• Cri Pll Frequency Err.

5. Encoder cable or Encoder CK signal failure.

Spinner will rotate and will pass over the right speed but due to the missing Enc_Ck pulses the H/W will shut off the spinner.
When sending a plot the spinner will rotate and stop and the three messages below will appear during the prepare plot.

• Spinner Set Err.
• Encoder Frame Warn.
• Cri Pll Frequency Err.
