Using a service dongle with a non-USB customer server/workstation

Product

Creo Feature Licensing

Cause

Customer workstation/server does not support USB.

Solutions

To enable a full service license:

  • Generate a temporary service license via CTP feature licensing generator (You must use VPN into the Creo network—not accessible by dealers). This license will be linked to the current customer dongle. In Service Shell 2.6 SP2 and higher, there are two types of service license:
    • A Full Service license that is valid for one week and should be removed before leaving the site.
    • An Advanced User license that is valid for one year but does not provide access to Test Plot Applet (TPA) and some other tools. This should be left on the system only if the District Manager agrees that the customer can access Service Shell.
    OR
  • Connect your laptop to the network (or directly to the workstation via a crossover Ethernet cable). You can then connect to the host, and access most Service Shell functions remotely.
If Bug Zipper or TPA is required with this method:
    1. Use Service Dongle Manager running on your laptop to remote your service license to the customer workstation while you are connected to the workstation via the network.
    2. Run Service Shell on the customer workstation. The license remoting function will let you access all Service Shell functions.
  • OR
  • Ask the Response Center to dial in via RSS and remote their service dongle to the site.
