Verifying Customer Media Definitions

For proper operation, the machine must reset correctly before a plate is loaded. After you define the customer's plates, verify that the tail grippers and weight balances are correctly positioned according to plate size.

Inserting plate measurements

  1. Measure the width and height dimensions of the customer's plates.
  2. For each plate size, in the Plate Definition window, enter the plate height, width, and thickness, and then click Save.

Verifying tail gripper and weight balance positions

  1. Select Utilities > Hardware > Loading system.
  2. In the Loading system dialog box, select one of the plates listed in the Media to Load list, and then click New Plate.
The platesetter resets and moves the tail grippers and weight balances to new positions, according to the size of the selected plate.
  3. When the platesetter finishes resetting, in the Loading System dialog box, click Find Tail Gripper to obtain the tail gripper position. Note the values that appear.
  4. To obtain the weight balance position, select Hardware > Drum System Directory > Balance system > Balance system.
  5. In the Balance system dialog box, click Find weights location. Note the values that appear in the window.
  6. Compare the values obtained in steps 3 and 5 with the values in the table below, for the selected plate size.
(drum axis)
(drum circumference)
Plate thickness (mm) weight 1 location (degrees) weight 2 location (degrees)
650 550 0.3 121.5 44
330 381 0.3 12.5 308
