Update 5 Release Notes for Lotem Xpose Version 1.01.047

These release notes describe the additions and corrections that have been made since Update 3, and how to install the update.
Note: Update 4 was not published, since it was for internal use only.

Enhanced functionality

Improved performance with TIFF files from Prinergy^®:
In a normal workflow, TIFF files generated from a Prinergy job are sent to a Lotem Xpose hot folder. Each TIFF file triggers the hot folder and is sent as a separate job to the running Lotem Xpose queue. The jobs are then processed by the platesetter. However, between jobs, the platesetter does not start to load the next plate until the previous plate is unloaded. This causes low throughput. To overcome this issue and improve performance, Update 5 enables a flow that sends all of the separations of a layout in one job.

After you install update 5, you must make some changes in Lotem Xpose, according to the procedure in the Low throughput when working with TIFF files in Prinergy or Prinergy Evo tip.

Fixed bugs

• When you increased the default of the machine Timeout parameter, the new value was not saved.
  The default value has been increased to 25 minutes, and you can increase this value and save the new value successfully.
• In the Excurve dialog box, processless plates did not appear in the media list.
• Jobs from a remote station with a layout rotation of 90° or 270° crashed during expose.
• After a rotated job aborted, the next job sent to the queue appeared twice.

Known Bugs

• When new jobs enter the queue, there is no indication from the New Jobs icon.
• The filters for the screen set list do not work.
• In some 3rd party TIFF files, the error message mismatch between separations appears.
  Workaround: drag and drop the file onto a template.
• When the cyclic option is selected, the slug gives unnecessary information.
• Create PPD considers only the media size, and does not consider the press format margin parameters.
• The two default hot folders must be set manually after installation.

Installation notes and instructions

Installation notes

• Update 5 includes Update 3.
• Update 5 is available on CD only.
• Install Update 5 after installing version 1.01.047.
• Update 5 can be un-installed, if required.

To install the update

IMPORTANT: Before you install Update 5, verify that LotemXpose 1.01.047 is already installed.

1. Verify that Lotem Xpose Update 3 is not installed. Uninstall Update 3, if required. (Use the uninstall file, and restart the workstation before and after uninstalling Update 3.)
2. On the Lotem workstation, close all applications and windows.
3. Insert the Lotem Xpose CD and browse to LotemXpose_Extra\LotemXpose_Upd5.
4. Save update 5 on your PC.
5. Browse to the folder in which you saved Update 5 and double-click LotemXposeUpd_5.EXE to open the update installation wizard.
6. Follow the instructions in the wizard. When the wizard installation is complete, the workstation restarts.
7. Restart the Lotem workstation.

Note: You must always restart the workstation after each software and update installation.

To check that the update has been installed

In the Lotem Xpose application, from the Help menu, select About. In About LotemXpose, the version should be 1.01.047 Upd 005.

To uninstall the update

1. On the Lotem workstation, close all applications and windows.
2. Restart the Lotem workstation.
3. Browse to the folder in which you saved Update 5 and double-click UninstLotemXposeUpd5.EXE to open the Remove Installation wizard.
4. Follow the instructions in the wizard. When the update removal is complete, the workstation restarts, and the Lotem workstation now contains LotemXpose released version 1.01.047.
