Plate does not unload from the platesetter on Lotem 400

Product

  • Lotem® 400
  • Lotem 400 Xpose

Symptoms

The plate does not unload from the platesetter.

Cause

  • The previous plate is stuck in the processor
  • The previous plate is blocking the conveyor sensor
  • The plate size is incorrect
  • Exposure problems exist
  • The unload gripper is not activated

Solution

  1. Check whether the previous plate is stuck in the processor.
    • Plate is not stuck in processor—proceed to step 2.
    • Plate is stuck in processor—the plate may be blocking the conveyor sensor. Verify that the processor is in Ready state, and reset to clear any error messages on the processor panel. If the problem persists, contact the processor technician.
  2. Manually move the previous plate into the processor.
  3. From the Routine Functions menu, click Unload Plate and manually unload the current plate.
  4. Check if there are error messages relating to vibration or fly-off.
    • If there are such messages, contact your service representative.
    • If there are no error messages, proceed to step 5.
  5. Load another plate and check if it unloads smoothly.
    • If the plate does not unload smoothly, remove the stuck plate, and try to load and unload a plate of a different size. If this is successful, there may be a specific problem with the original plate size.
    • If the plate unloads smoothly, contact your service representative.

  1. Examine the plate to see if it was partially exposed, or not exposed at all.
    • Plate is correctly exposed—proceed to step 7.
    • Plate is partially exposed, or not exposed—partial exposure indicates a problem with the exposure sequence.
  2. Check whether the unload gripper was activated or not:
    1. In the Hardware tree, select Drum System > Gripper system > Unload Gripper, and then double-click Unload Gripper Enable Detector.
    2. In the Unload Gripper Enable Detector dialog box, check the detector status.
      • If the detector status is ON—proceed to step 8 to check the unload drum position.
Note: The unload gripper enable detector is ON when the drum is at unload position and the tail gripper is under the unload gripper actuator.
      • If the detector status if OFF—check the following:
        • Silver reflecting tape—if there is no tape, replace the tape.
        • Detector—if the detector is defective, replace the detector.
  3. Check the unload drum position:
    1. In the Hardware tree, select Drum System, and then double-click Drum Motor.
    2. In the Motor dropdown list, select Unload Motor, and then record the unload position.
    3. In the Hardware tree, select Others, and then right-click Lotem 400 to view the Properties dialog box.
    4. In the Properties Lotem400 dialog box, double-click +MACHINE.
    5. In the Properties Lotem400\MACHINE dialog box, in the Unload Head Gripper Location row, type the unload position that you recorded in step 8b.
