Description of Change

Change Procedure

Note: The punch upper guide is part of the new holder; the lower guide must be attached with the double stick paper. If attached with screws, secure with Loctite 242.

Picture no. 1

1 = Covers for spiral and single punches, 29 mm width.
2 = Covers for double punches, 29 mm width.
3 = Covers for double and triple punches, 50 mm width.
4 = Covers for double and triple punches, 69 mm width.

  1. Release the cassette from the application and put it aside.
  2. Using the GUI, open the front door.
  3. Disconnect the punch wirings.
  4. Release and remove the screws that connect the detector's holder and the upper plate guide, as shown in picture no. 3.
  5. Before installing the new holder, make sure that the current punch connector is on the correct side, if not, follow the procedure below.
Note: If any two punches are close to one another, the detector can be rotated 180 degrees in order to attach the two punches.
  6. Changing the detector position:
    • Remove the two no. 3 screws (shown in picture no. 2).
    • Position the detector's connector on the required side, by rotating the detector's bracket.
    • Reinstall the two no. 3 screws, but don't tighten them yet, as an adjustment is required first.
  7. Assemble the new detector holder on top of the punch and close it with the no. 2 screws (shown in picture no. 2); then secure them with Loctite 242.
  8. Reconnect the punch wirings.
  9. Put cheaters in the front door and cassette interlocks.

Test & Adjustment Procedure

  1. Using the application, open the punch dialog box and the H.P. detector.
  2. Slightly loosen the no. 3 screws.
  3. Ask another person to activate the punch motor a few times.
  4. Using a flat screwdriver, rotate screw no. 1 clockwise, until the punch motor runs continuously. Rotate the screw counter clockwise until the motor stops. From that point continue one more full rotation counter clockwise.
  5. Tighten the no. 3 screws.
  6. Activate the punch motor again, make sure the H.P. detector changes position from on to off, and back again to on.
  7. Verify that the punch rod does not protrude into the plate slot (while in H.P.). If the punch rod protrudes, repeat the adjustment procedure.
