Field Change Order #510F26156 - Double Oil Kit for the Optic Head Carriage
Sammy Avisror December 2, 1999
RE-Edited 9 Dec 2001 _ Dennis Kaliser
FCO Note:
The carriage V block bracket has been replaced by a new type, which allows
installation of a second oil bracket on the left side of the optic head. This
FCO includes two oil brackets, one for each side of the optic head carriage.
There are two types of HP detector Assemblies. They include the bracket housings.
If an engineer needs to replace the carriage HP, follow these instructions:
For older machines with serial numbers lower than S/N 9940XXXXXX where
the oil kit FCO has not been implemented, you need to order the HP assembly
P/N 5061L426.
For machines where the oil kit FCO has been implemented, place an order
for HP Assembly P/N 507A3D222.
Reason For Change
Adding an oil kit to the optic head carriage decreases friction between the
carriage surface and the V block. It also cleans the V block surface.
Description of Change
Add two oil kits, one for each side of the optic head carriage.
In order to add the second oil bracket (on the left side) to the carriage optic
head, you must replace the left lead screw bearing housing, the HP detector,
and the chain base of the carriage.
1. Disassemble the motor from the Lead Screw.
2. Release the motor damper (blue) coupling.
3. On the right of the bearing housing there is an M6 screw (as shown
in the diagram) that connects the lead screw to the damper adapter. The
adapter enables rotation of the lead screw via the stepper motor. In order
to open the M6 screw you need to hold the lead screw in place with a pipe
wrench or large pliers. Be careful not to damage the lead screw while
gripping it.
4. As soon as you open the M6 screw, you need to open the two setscrews'
that connect the damper adapter to the lead screw.
5. Release the bearing housing from the lead screw and replace it with
the new one.
6. Apply "lock-tight" to the M6 screw. Lock-Tight is supplied
with the "Spare parts on site" kit.
7. Connect the HP detector to the bearing housing. It should have been
pre-assembled
8. As soon as you connect the bearing housing, install the lead screw
back onto the carriage.
9. Perform carriage Home Position calibration. (Fine HP calibration)
Replacement of the chain base
Send the carriage to position 900, in order to place the chain base on
the left side of the carriage.
Disconnect the old chain base from the carriage chain base. There are two
Allen screws attached to the carriage and three black Philips screws attached
to the carriage chain.
Install the new chain base as shown in the picture.
Send the carriage to position 30 mm, and turn off the carriage motor power.
Check that the HP flag moves smoothly to the HP coarse detector by manually
moving the carriage.
Send the carriage from H.P. to E.P.
Check for smooth movement of the carriage chain.
