About the Lotem 800

The Lotem 800 is a new CreoScitex thermal imaging platesetter. It represents state-of-the-art technology within all operational systems, and features a technological breakthrough in the form of a multi-beam, variable resolution thermal imaging head. Within the footprint of a typical 8-page imagesetter, Lotem 800 provides full automation including slip sheet removal, customized plate punching, and plate loading/unloading. It has a fast rotating external drum and a thermal imaging head. The Lotem 800 can plot any plate size from the smallest 4-page sheetfed press to the largest 8-page press.

The thermal imaging head inside the Lotem 800 is comprised of a 24 laser beam array operating at a wavelength of 830 nanometers. Individual beams are precisely positioned using a self calibrating alignment configuration, and this allows for continuously variable imaging resolutions.

A significant and unique feature of the Lotem 800 is dynamic drum balancing. This ability guarantees rotational stability of the external drum while imaging any size plate within the specified size range, from a minimum of 650 mm x 550 mm (25.6 x 21.7 inch) to a maximum of 1130 mm x 900 mm (44.5 x 35.4 inch).

To allow for variable resolution imaging, drum rotation speed is programmed to vary proportionally with the output resolution. This particular feature is unique to Lotem 800, and ensures optimized imaging speeds based on output parameters.

The Lotem 800 front end is the Brisque Impose software version 2.8. In addition to the standard Brisque Impose features, special features for CTP users, such as fast plate remake and back/front preview were added. The Lotem 800 system can accept data from any standardized digital file format including PostScriptTM, EPSF, PDFTM, TIFF-IT, and CreoScitex CT/LW files.
