Description
Preventive maintenance should be performed on the XY Vacuum Pump (Gast Model 0523-101Q-G181D) every six months.

Procedure
Note: In addition to the standard tools, a Hex key (mm) is required.

  1. Turn the handle of each of the two filters counter-clockwise to remove the filters, and replace them with new filters (see Figure 1).

  2. Disassemble the XY vacuum pump cover by removing the five Hex screws.
  3. Disassemble the XY vacuum pump inner section by removing the six Hex screws.

Note: The seal between the two metal parts is not held in place, so make sure to save it when removing the cover.

  1. Remove the four vacuum pump blades.

  2. Using an external air pressure hose, clean the inner areas of the vacuum pump.
  3. Measure each vacuum pump blade with a caliber to check whether the blade has eroded. The width should be greater than 22 mm.

  4. If the width of a vacuum pump blade is 22 mm or less, replace all the blades in the set with a new set (P/N 510K3R383).

Important: Insert the vacuum pump blades with the curved side outward, fitting into the housing curve (see Figure 3).

  5. Secure the XY vacuum pump inner section by tightening the six Hex screws.

Note: Be sure that the seal between the two metal parts is in place.

  6. Secure the XY vacuum pump cover by tightening the five Hex screws.
