Vibration Sensor Adjustments

The vibration sensor (P/N – 507A4L044) cuts power to the drum when the OptoMec vibrates due to a malfunction of the drum balance.

Examples of malfunction:

  1. Plate fly off during expose.
  2. Drum out of balance.

Note: This procedure must be performed when a drum vibration error appears.

Required Tools

Procedure

There are 2 vibration sensors, one on each side of the Opto - Mech.
Begin work on right hand side sensor.

To implement this procedure, refer to the drawing assembly: Vibration Assy.

The balloon reference is mentioned in the procedure

  1. Ensure the carriage is at HP.
  2. Open the 2 screws that connect vibration sensor [1] to OptoMec, allow sensor to move freely (see Vibration Assy).
  3. Disconnect Molex connector from sensor.
  4. Connect DVM to Molex connector on the sensor.
  5. Slide 1.0mm shims under sensor [2].
When the sensor is not activated, the DVM reading will register a short circuit.
  6. Slide sensor down until the short circuit is disconnected-sensor is activated.
  7. Remove 1.0mm shims and replace with 0.5mm shims, tighten screws to prevent sensor movement and that the shims do not activate sensor.
  8. If the shims still activate the sensor repeat steps 5-7 until the sensor is no longer activated.
  9. Tighten screws to secure sensor in place.
  10. Perform the same procedure for the left sensor, ensure firstly that the carriage is at the EP.

Testing

To verify no Vibration error message appears during drum rotation, perform expose plate.
