Adjusting the pressure across the leading edge of the tail gripper bar

This procedure aligns all the spoilers so that they produce the same pressure across the plate.

Procedure

Make sure that there is a .05mm gap between the gripper and the drum.
Use the shim that is supplied with the spare kit.

  1. Move the tail grippers to the preload position (see pic1.).

  1. Make sure that the gap is equal all along the gripper edge by slipping the shim between the drum and spoiler edge. If the gap isn't equal, loosen the spoiler screws. You will break the red Loctite seal when doing this.
  2. Slip the shim between the drum and the spoiler edge. Adjust the gap.
  3. Apply Loctite 242 and tighten the screws.
  4. Recheck the gap with the shim.

Note:
During production, the screws may have been tightened too much causing the spoiler to drum gap to fall out of spec.
It is recommended not to tighten the screws too hard. After tightening, recheck the gap with the shim. The gap should remain correct. A torque wrench cannot be used for this procedure so that experience is required to get the feel for how tight the screws should be so that the gap does not expand or compress after tightening.
