Installing Tilted Paper/Metal Detectors

Re-edited by: Dennis Kaliser
Date: January 2002

Prerequisites :

Notes

Installation of the Tilted Paper -Metal Detector

  1. Open the cassette cover and front door.
  2. Set the following parameters in the GUI
    (LOTEM800V\IO OBJECTS\Loading System\Loading System Setup):
    "Use Tilted/Straight Paper Metal Detector
    "Tilted=1, Straight=0"
    Enter= 1, then enter "Tilted Paper Metal Detector Y relative position (mm)" = -5

  3. Remove the current bracket and install a new one with the detector pointing towards the cassette [see figure A]

Note: if there is a significant difference between them (more than ±1mm)
then continue the procedure:

  1. Use a 2mm flat head screwdriver to rotate the detector "Mode" switch (figure B) to the "L" position ("Light ON") if it is not already there.
  2. Invert the Detector Active State in the Registry to 1 (under Loading System/Loading plate to drum/Detectors).
  3. Open the "Paper/Metal detector" window in the GUI.
ON = Plate
OFF = Paper
  1. Alternately place small pieces of paper and plates under the detector. Adjust the detector. by inserting the 2mm flat head screwdriver into the "sens" screw and turning it left or right very slowly. Turning clockwise increases sensitivity.

Readings should be "On" (green LED on) for plates and "Off" for paper.
Press the yellow safety button in and Lower the X-Y bar by hand on a plate while applying 'extra' force so that the suction caps are fully compressed against the surface.
In this condition the green led should start flickering which indicates proper adjustment.
