Testing Air Supply Requirements

Itai Peperovich
3-Mar-2001

Description

To define a test procedure for approving the customer's air supply, before installing a new machine and in sites were machines are already installed. In order to perform the test we are using a special testing jig, P/N: 291A6B147.

Note: Make sure the jig's airflow is 24 (liter/sec); the airflow is imprinted on the jig (see picture no. 1)

1. Air Pressure And Flow Test

  1. Close the testing jig air pressure valve.
  2. Disconnect the air regulator that feeds the machine and connect the testing jig, make sure the main air pressure valve is closed (see picture no.1).

  1. Open the main air pressure valve; the pressure should be 6 bar minimum. Write down the pressure value in the table.
  2. Turn the testing jig valve fully open and let the air flow for 30 seconds; Air pressure must not drop below 4.5 bars during this period. Write down the pressure value in the table before closing the jig valve.

Note: If pressure drops below 4.5 bars, it means that the compressor and/or tank or airflow at machine connection point is not sufficient.

  1. Close the air valve; wait for the specified time period listed below, according to machine type:
  1. Repeat the test at least 3 times and write down the results in the table below.

2. Air Quality Test

Note: The air quality should be according to ISO CLASS 4 standards.

  1. Ensure that all filtering components are installed:
  1. Ensure that an air-drying unit is installed and that its specs are rated at 3 ° C at 8 bars max. The unit can be an integral part of the compressor or a stand-alone unit.
  1. Ensure that air hose temperature between drying unit and machine is kept above 3 ° C at all times (air temperatures below that will cause condensation of water inside the machine).
