Problem

The rollers on the proof loading bar scratch plates during loading.

Solution

Replace the rollers on the proof loading bar with soft rollers.

Time needed to implement

1/2 hour.

Parts needed

Procedure

1. Release the cassette and remove it from the machine.
2. Open the front door.
3. From the proof loading bar, remove the twelve roller bar assembly securing screws (shown below) and remove the roller bar assembly from the proof loading bar.

   

   
   Notice that the assembly consists of three sections—a spacer, middle and outer section (shown below).



4. From either side of the roller assembly, slowly pull the roller shaft out of the middle section of the roller assembly and carefully remove each roller as you go, as shown below.
   Note: You will not replace the rollers in the outer section.



5. Install the soft rollers by reinserting the roller shaft into the roller assembly and placing the soft rollers on the shaft as you go.
6. Secure the roller assembly to the proof loading bar using the twelve screws that you previously removed.
   Important: Be sure to reinstall the sections of the roller bar assembly in the correct order—spacer, middle section (with soft rollers) and outer section.
7. Start up the machine.
8. Close the front door.
9. Insert the cassette in the machine and expose several plates to verify that the problem has been solved.
